I agree Czar! Great film with plenty of action and lots of Kate. It was done much like Titanic was. You have a disaster that unfolds around a love story. It keeps you entertained.

I gave it an 8/10.
Amazing PQ and AQ.

Horrible horrible film. Even the attack sequence is a chore to sit through.

Agree completely. An absolute insult to War Veteran's, many of whom saw this and were appalled. As for special effect's, showing a P47 Flying between two buildings that in reality you'd be lucky to drive a truck through, well lets just "shrink" the CGI to match. And my other favourite, two people in the cokpit of a P47 - yeah, good luck with that one - utter crap. Hey, but each to their own.

Tora, Tora, Tora the only true Pearl Harbor film

I've always liked "Pearl Harbor" in general. Sure it's long and it's got a lot of sappy romance, but the pacing was rapid and the photography was splendid. The battle scenes are awesome (even if they are outlandish or overblown). I used to think very highly of the movie, but now it's been a while since I last saw it and my opinion of it has diminished a little; these days I'd give it a 3.5/5, if not a 4/5.

I do have the director's cut DVD in addition to the Blu-Ray; the added R-rated footage was rather startling, but doesn't really match up with the rest of the movie. It's still interesting to see though.

A lot of people seem to mention "Tora! Tora! Tora!" as being the better Pearl Harbor movie. I can understand it being a great classic (and its battle scene is pretty sweet!), but I never cared for it that much. Watching it as a kid, I found the first two hours too long and dull to sit through; as an adult, I don't know what I'd think of it, so I might have to watch it again someday.

I never like this movie. It's nothing more then a romance movie with 60 minutes at the end with lame action\explosion sequences typical of Michael Bay movies.

While I have no problem with his movies, why did he bother picking an historic event and not care to recreated properly and with the respect it need's? The final scenes at the end are ridiculous. There are more planes in the sky during that one battle then the entire Japanese navy actualy had. I would think that if you want to make a historical movie, you would actualy make it with a bit of sense and not just throw in stuff for the sake of "it's going to look cool on screen". You can do this with Transformers but not for Pearl Harbor.

Look, I know many of you will want to jump at his defense and you will say "it's a movie". I do not hate Bay but it this one case he drop the ball and badly. He should continue doing what he does best, fantasy movies and not tackle historical events unless he will give them the respect they deserve.

If you want to watch a good movie about Pearl Harbor, watch Tora Tora Tora

Agreed. Outside of some nice special effects this film is pure horrible.

"Hammer Down!"

even Cuba Gooding's character went nowhere..it was like hey lets bring in Miller's character just for the sake of it and then just drop him. Why go out of the way to cast a big name for Doris Miller? Should have just used an unknown and shown us the Courageous soilder who happended to be a cook firing the gun and left it at that.

I like Pearl Harbor. It isn't perfect by any means (I agree about too much of the romance subplot, I would have cut about 40 minutes right there lol) but I don't think it deserves all the hate I have seen it get.

I watched the movie myself a few weeks ago, IN STANDARD DEFENITION! All I wanted to watch the movie for, was the explosions. *Fourm members glance at me* What? Its a Michael Bay movie. Why not? Anyway, I was starting to wonder when are the explosions gonna start? I had to sit through a romance story that would embarass Titanic for an hour and a half before I got the moneyshot of eye candy and then for some reason after the action ended, I just kept watching. I don't know why. Did the Baysplosions make me stay? Now if you excuse me, I have to run away for watching it in SD *flees from angry BD.com mob*.

As an actor, he's certainly not very good. However, he's a good screenwriter, as proven by Good Will Hunting. I also think he has talent as a director, even though I didn't like the ending of Gone Baby Gone (not his fault).

As others have said, I think this movie was too long and drawn out and that they focused too much on a fictional romance story than the historical events of Pearl Harbor.

Agreed, I was impressed by GBG because I had so low expectations, who would've thought Ben making such a good movie?

But I liked the ending, but please don't "spoil" the ending for me again, I cannot remember it anymore.

I just hope that he'll spend more time behind the camera, obviously has a greater chance of succeeding that way.

This movie is like the ditzy stupid girl you want to bang. Sure she looks great and it's fun while you're going for a ride but then you realize there isn't anything there below the shallow exterior.

I do have to agree about the Cuba thing. I had no idea he was even in the film and then when he appeared I was shocked at this point in his career he would take such a small role. Haha Got Em!!

This is a very debatable issue. The movie is somewhat accurate. How about the part Cuba Gooding Jr. player?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doris_Miller The first African American to receive the Navy Cross.

IDK about everyone else, but I get chills when I see that first torpedo coming in.

This movie may have had the best trailer in history. I was pumped for weeks.

Then I saw the movie.
