This fella was crazy. The very definition.

Anyways,... You can't appriciate the story unless I tell it right so let me try again.

In Jr. High I was friends with these 2 girls. Years later one of them got married and I agreed to take the other one to visit her. We drove down and started hanging out. The one who got married actually wasn't happy. Her husband got busted in a sting operation when he tried to solicit an undercover police officer he thought was a prostitute. This was within 2 weeks of the marriage. Also,.. he had zero trust of his wife and kept the spark plug wires for her car when he left the house so that she would stay home.

Right about then... he returns to the house. His wife says "He's Crazy get out!" and I go to my car but her friend doesn't know what to do and just freezes. I'm waiting in my car and the insane fella goes in the house. Then my friend comes running out saying "He's crazy, he's throwing stuff and freaking out, let's get out of here" so we take off.

I'm in a Marquee and he jumps in something like a Monte Carlo and he's gaining on us, fully chasing us. I take a left and he is going to fast for the turn and misses it losing control a bit goes down a small hill and head on hits a tree and I figure hopefully he's done. Then my friend notices the workers and someone with a badge and points it out.

I get out and go up to the guy with the badge and say a crazy person is chasing us. The fella show up and grabs a cut off 2x4 and starts chasing me saying he was going to kill me. The "chain gang" more or less takes five and watches the action. The badge fella says something like mister I'm a federal officer and it's a crime to make those kind of threats and a bigger crime with me as witness.

The insane guy is clearly still very pissed. He goes back to his car and gets a few tools then goes and pops my hood and takes my battery out and drives off.

The police come and some explaining is done.

Less then an hour later mister nutzo drive up and proceeds to put my car battery back in my car. Him and police talk it over for a while then the cop comes over to me. The cop says he agrees mostly with the crazy guy. I was at his home with his new wife so anything could have been happening and therefore he should be a bit angry or something. He says I should leave and agree to not come back to that town ever again.

This, I thought, was perhaps the wildest part. I should never go back to that town period because I visited someone who's insane husband wasn't home. Still,... I had never been to that town and the thought of never going back was fine. And my car wasn't half wrecked from the chase and he didn't actually attack me.

So I left. More recently my friend tells me the other girl is still married to that same fella and he hasn't killed her yet or anything and he's gotten "better" and less violent.

Ok... that's my try to tell it. It's true by the way. Be careful if you visit crazy people or people married to crazy people.

Sure you can, I've got two kids and have no problem with guns in the house.

I've got one of these bolted under my bed: Biometric Gunsafe

The biggest things with kids is to teach them about guns and ingrain the 4 rules of gun safety into there head. I believe if kids grow up around guns and are taught to respect them you'll have no problems. Obviously you still don't want them to have access to them but if it's a normal part of their lives the curiosity level tends to go down quite a bit.

I can't stress enough how important it is to teach everyone in the house about gun safety, take them out (if they're old enough) and go target practice, make it fun for them.

This story is better than most of the movies in my collection.

ha, that was good BH, reminds me of a recent story of my own.

Sorry OP but I'm going a bit OT for a second.

I went to bed unusually early one day about 2 months ago, sometime around 8:30. So about 1 am rolls around and needless to say I'm deep in sleep. All of the sudden I hear someone beating down my door and it scared the hell out of me. Remember I'm married with 2 kids so my first thought is of them. I reach under the bed and grab my pistol and head to the door. No lights are on and I can't see anyone outside so I ready myself and slowly open the door, I get the door about half open and I can finally see who's outside and I've got a big shiny badge right in my face. I'm pretty sure the cop about sh*t himself and so did I! He greeted me and I simply asked "Care if I put this down?" all he could say was "Please do!" We talked for a bit and I shook like crazy the entire time! lol I'm weird like that, once I get into a bad situation I'm cool as can be but as soon as everything is over I completely give and the adrenaline gets the best of me every time! lol

Turns out we left our garage open and the neighbors called it in to make sure someone didn't get in the house.

So he popped your hood and stole your battery, in front of a federal officer, and never got in trouble for it?

Weird story man, glad you're ok.

You might be able to, but I cannot (i.e., do not want to).

I'm more concerned about the idiot kids that come to my house who do NOT know gun safety.

Anyway, regarding your story, why was the police officer trying to break into your house?

Great Story. I would freak out if someone was chasing me while I was driving.

Never had a death threat, never had a threat of violence of any kind. Never even witnessed one.

Life is good.

Nothing much, they just take a little piece of the brain...and you get to keep it when they're done...

In reality, I am a sociopath living a pretty isolated life in a rather pleseant small community in the middle of nowhere.

I understand, some people just aren't comfortable with the idea of guns.

He wasn't breaking in, I guess he just figured he needed to be loud and obnoxious since it was late. He was just checking on us to make sure everything was good and no one had gotten in the house.

I'm comfortable with the idea of guns. I'm uncomfortable with the idea of guns in my daugters' and/or their young friends' hands.

Why didn't he ring the doorbell?

Yeah one of our county judges after a decent RICO case started carrying a .45 on the bench. I keep the work gun next to the bed in case something does happen, they can confiscate that one and not a personal.

Maybe my .308 next to the bed is a little bit of overkill.

I worked at an investment company's 800 call center for two years. I received threats all the time, but nothing against me personally. I would remind the person they're on a recorded line and that they had clearly identified themself in a security check but it didn't seem to matter. Nothing ever came of it because no one knew where we were. Most seemed to think they were calling some place right down the street.

I was also a bartender for 5 years in a college town with a large homeless population. I received threats on a regular basis--knives, broken bottles, etc. The money was good for someone working his way through college, but I wouldn't wish that job on anyone.
