Yes, T'Pol is a serious babe. But the series as a whole was a disappointment to me. For example the whole Xindi thing was garbage. Obviously they were trying to create an epic, DS9-like story arc, but it turned out sooooo boring and silly...

Enterprise was honestly enough my favorite of all Star Treks, Voyager being second. DS9 is my least favorite and I find alot of the stories on that show boring. I much prefer the Xindi over the annoying Bajoran. The only saving grace for DS9 was the Cardassian's and the Klingon episodes when Worf came on board. I think people should be less critical and just set back and enjoy the ride for the most part. Look at Firefly for example. Only 14 episodes and probably one of the BEST TV shows ever conceived, but it was canceled. I feel the same about Enterprise, a treasure that was buried far too soon. Remember the 3 episode story arch with Doctor Noonien Soong? That was some of the best Star Trek of all time as far as I am concerned.

Does anybody know why SyFy doesn't air Enterprise in HD? God, that channel is worthless.

I hope they put the entire series on blu-ray when the next movie comes out.

To be honest I expected Enterprise to have been released already. I guess Paramount is waiting to tie it in with the theatrical release of Star Trek #2.

But Paramount can release ENT without much fuzz on blu-ray, contrary to the other shows. There's not a lot of work involved. Knowing Paramount's greed when it comes to Trek I wouldn't be surprised if ENT was released sooner than the other shows, at least DS9 and VOY.

I wonder if they are willing to spend the money necessary to reconstruct the 35mm filmed material and create new SFX on fourteen seasons of the shows that are decidedly less popular than TNG and TOS.

Did you watch the whole show? Or even casually the later seasons?
I mean comparing the Xindi to the Bajorans isn't fair or logical, is it?
What's with the Dominian war?
[Show spoiler]with changing alliances of the Federation, the Klingons, the Cardassians, the Romulans and the Breen

To me it's a tuff call to decide between ENT + DS9.
DS9 has the better characters and overall story arc but starts very slow and has some terrible characters like Rom.
ENT starts good and may even have the best percentage of enjoyable episodes but can't compete with DS9 content wise.

I love DS9 for it's political aspects, for some of the character stories, the big war and for characters like Benjamin Sisko, Garak, Weyoun, Dukat, Martok, Odo, Bashir and Quark.

isn't it funny how all the shows after TOS has lasted over 3 seasons? Even Enterprise?

^ The Digital Bits have mentioned this though:

Quote:
Finally today, we've got a little something for you Trekkies. Consider it very Rumor Mill-worthy, as nothing has been officially announced (though that may change soon - more in a minute). But a lot of you have been asking us if Star Trek: The Next Generation - Remastered is ever going to happen. We've mentioned previously that tests on the feasibility of the project have been on-going at CBS for some time, and one of the key concerns has been cost. (Click here and scroll down a bit.) Well, today we've got an update for you...

As some of you may be aware, a few months ago Netflix signed a non-exclusive deal with CBS allowing them to digitally stream the entire Star Trek library to their customers, along with popular ancillary titles like MacGyver. Well, that arrangement definitely tripped our sensors. Not only is that financial incentive for TNG Remastered to move forward, but the fact that J.J. Abrams' big-screen Trek sequel is likely to start shooting in September (for theatrical release next year) provides a sufficient marketing/cross-promotional incentive too. So after several months of looking into this, our industry sources have finally begun hinting that TNG Remastered IS moving forward and that Netflix (and possibly Paramount's Epix cable channel, which has a strong relationship with the streaming service) may be the first place you'll finally see it - in HD - starting sometime in the fall. Meanwhile, SD TNG episodes will begin appearing on Netflix in July. Trek Movie posted this a month ago:

"Netflix confirmed they will be streaming every episode of every season for all five live-action Star Trek series: the original Star Trek, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise. TOS, TNG, Voyager and Enterprise will all become available on July 1st. DS9 will launch on October 1st. TOS and Enterprise will be available in HD."

While Deep Space Nine and Voyager are unlikely to generate the kind of revenue to justify a Remastered redo effort (and Enterprise is already available in HD), we believe a high-definition film scan of The Next Generation is very likely in the cards for the entire series run, along with the requisite digitally-upgraded effects. Of course, in addition to syndication and streaming, the end result of all this might be a Next Generation: Remastered Blu-ray release down the line. So if all goes well, you could be spinning Picard and Data on disc in glorious HD by this time next year. In any case, we'll post additional updates on this as they come in. Our best guess: Watch for official news to break at Comic-Con in July.
I don't agree that the series will be released chronologically though. After TNG it gets a little more complicated. Both DS9 and VOY will require the same amount of work as TNG. ENT has always had smaller sales than both of those series, yet at the same time it's a lot less difficult to put it on Blu-ray. It'll be interesting to see which option Paramount runs with. I suspect it might actually be the one that's easier and therefore a little less risky. As much as I love Star Trek (all series), Paramount has always been protective of their $$$ when it comes to their big franchise.

I read this earlier, but I believe there is a big difference with The Digital Bits saying their "best guess" is that Paramount might announce it at Comic Con vs. saying that Paramount has said they will make an announcement.

That may be splitting hairs (I don't think it is) but both statements create totally different expectations.

^ True. Jeff Kleist has been talking about it a bit in The Bits insiders thread too. Although The Bits inferring something is a long way from Paramount confirming something, Bill etc are Star Trek fans and have connections to Paramount so they wouldn't say something like that lightly.

They were an excellent source of information on the TOS remaster and I have no doubt they will be on the re-release of TNG. In this case I doubt any potential Comic-Con announcement would be highly detailed but I wouldn't be surprised if there was at least confirmation that it's happening, an indication of the date they'd be released from and some basic information on what they're doing to the series. It'll be one year out from the release of the next film so it's an ideal time to make an announcement.

The entire series runs on HDNet regularly. That is how I saw it in beautiful HD. The first two seasons look vaguely like upscaled SD, but the last two seasons look much better. It's probably my second favorite Trek series, though I am not a huge Trek fan.

They simply won't release Enterprise to Blu-ray before the shows shows are released.
Well, I have to disagree here. Don't get me wrong, I really want you to be right in this regard, but, I just don't think DS9 and Voyager have the popularity to make it to blu anytime soon. You have to consider how much work has to go into those two series just to get them up to hi-def speed. Enterprise, needing the least amount of work is a good bet.
As far as how the release schedule goes, remember that that may have had more to do with the fact that DS9 and Voyager were still on air in first run episodes when the dvd releases for ST series sets first started.

DS9 and Voyager have no chance of being released on Blu-ray, unless studios change their minds and start dumping SD shows in smaller Blu-ray sets. They just were not popular and no easy HD masters exist for them. TNG has a decent shot at seeing some form of release on Blu-ray.

Troy, you're probably right. Enterprise has a better chance of being released, but, Paramount will want to capitalize on that by releasing the other shows first. The one thing about The Next Generation, is if Paramount is successful at upgrading that series, then it bodes good news for shows like Deep Space Nine, Voyager and those shows from other studios such as Smallville, X-Files and Babylon 5.

Hopefully, Paramouont will announce the news and if it proves successful, we could see the process applied to other shows, providing the studios will invest money in the process.

I just hope that Paramount doesn't set themselves up for failure by putting an overly high asking price on any future releases. Their prices are always high in comparison to other shows from other studios. They need to find an appropriate price point between covering the costs of the remaster and also making it a worthwhile purchase for many fans. Let's face it - they've got to convince everyone to upgrade and slapping a £70 RRP and selling for £50 is going to make their task a lot harder. When complete series of shows like Battlestar Galactica and Heroes are going for barely more than that (e.g. on Amazon cheapest TOS season is £50 but whole of Heroes is £60) they really aren't making the sets look like value for money.

As a long time Trek fan who owns every piece of Star Trek released I would happily upgrade the average DVDs but even I'd balk at those prices. When I've owned series on VHS and then DVD I'd want to know I'm not paying through the nose again to get the series a third time. The loyalty of Trek fans will be both a blessing and a curse for Paramount - yes, that will mean there are fans to purchase the set but at the same time you're looking at a body of fandom who will no doubt have this series on DVD already.

Hate to admit it, but, you're right. Paramount has always stuck an outrageous price tag on their Star Trek releases. They seem to think that they're worth high premium prices. Matter of fact, Fox Home Video was the same way with their X-Files DVD releases, as well.

I really hope we don't have to wait until all of TNG is released on blu-ray before Enterprise goes blu. Unfortunately, it looks like that may be the case...

I think there plan is to see how much money they can make off the dvd's first. And than bring it to blu ray. They are very greedy when it comes to Star Trek. DS9 is still selling for over 300 dollors on amazon. I wonder how much this series and the other star trek series will be when they finally come to blu ray
