The Lord of the Rings is the only reason I went Hi-Def. I bought my firts TV, a 65' 1080i RCA projection TV for TFotR EE. I bought my first sound system for TRotK EE. I bought a 65' 1080p Mitsu, a PS3, and a $2000 7.1 HD sound system just to prepare for The Lord of the Rings trilogy. All other movies until then are gravy.

I'd love to own the LOTR trilogy, as well as the Star Wars tirlogy episodes 4-6. I thought the other three were crap. Seriously stiff acting by Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen. Besides Liv Tyler looked cute as hell with her little Elf ears. I have the "original" trilogy on SDvd. I bought the rerelease with the original cuts on them as well as the newer versions and will gladly watch them in upconversion till Geroge comes to his senses. Please dear god let the LOTR be the extended cuts, MPEG-4 AVC, with DTS HD audio.

With the space of a blu-ray they'd have to be extended cuts(It Just makes Sense).

My favorite Indiana jones is raiders, then Crusade, then Doom.
I always use those three as a scale for other trilogys.
Like " I like the first two but the last was the Temple of doom of the Triliogy."

forget them how about police academy 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and 8 whenever that comes out. pretty sure its warner.
After hearing about star wars and lotr so much all the time, when they do finally come out on Blu-ray there will be nothing to look forward to anymore

I totally agree, Skamins1. Give me the theatrical version.

I voted for neither. I would prefer Indiana Jones or Band Of Brothers series.

I vote for SW 4-6, particularily love 4 and 5.

I like/enjoy LotR but find it difficult for repeated viewings...the movies are a little long and I guess I've had enough of it since it is still relatively new.

There is only one return and it's of the Jedi, not the king! Jk.... LOTR all the way!

I have all 9 on DVD, and I am not replacing DVD's with Blu-ray, but after watching the LOTR trilogy, it is better than either set of 3 SW films in my opinion.

+1 for LOTR. Even if I prefer Sci-fi over Fantasy, still LOTR is much better made movie. Acting, dialogs, script, everything is levels above SW.
