Default SW vs. LOTR

Since these are some of the most anticipated High-Def realeases, SW of which may never make it to HD, I thought it would be interesting to see if there was a new king of the trilogy.

I imagine LotR will hit Blu-ray before Star Wars.

Ok, I'll bite. Based purely on the movies themselves and not technical things like how the transfer might look:

1) If Original SW trilogy vs. LOTR, hands down SW for me (I think my tag says it all )

2) If SW prequels vs. LOTR, LOTR hands down for me (although I'd love to see how the opening battle sequence in EP3 ROTS will look).

The original SW trilogy. But it had better be the theatrical release and not the special edition crap. Thought I doubt that it will come out any time soon, if it ever does.

All those movies suck. I want a really awesome trilogy in high def, like Look Who's Talking 1, 2, and 3. Pre-bloated John Travolta FTW!!!

True, but no one has given me a definitive answer on when star wars is coming to blu-ray. I need to know

forget look who's talking. I want all 25 land before time movies. ooooh little foot.

I actually like all 6 star wars when taken as a whole. ep1 bored me to tears but is a decent setup to the others. I even like the remastered original trilogoy. but not nearly as much as I liked lotr. what can I say. elves is sexy. have you seen the star wars trilogoy on hd cable? you can see every spec of makeup on priness leah. it looks funny.

I would go with all 6 star wars. But you really can't compare the two trilogies, two totally different genre's.

Ditto except #1 is contingent on them being the original theatrical cuts no spec. ed.

Definitely wish for the original theatrical cuts of the films like I saw growing up. Get that fag hayden christiansen out of the end of jedi that was the gayest thing since the "droids" cartoon.

Since George Lucas has proven to be a total d*** about movies he had anything to do with I doubt this will happen but it would be nice if there was the option on the movie to watch which version you would like since the dual layer BD will have the space. Also put the DTS track on there you THX D***!
You know most Steven Speilberg movies have DTS also except most notably the Indy trilogy when it came out on dvd thanks again George.

Since LOTR is more likely to A: come out first and will likely be out long before Lucas figures out how to milk another 4 releases of the SW movies on BD I am going to vote for LOTR since it is the trilogy my daughter grew up watching.

Yeesh, can you chill with the nazi crap? There are other words...

I voted for LOTR, but would get the original SW trilogy (IV, V, VI) and yes, like you, I hope they are not the digitally manipulated ones.

I know it does seem harsh but he is the biggest Ahole to his fans if it wasn't for us he wouldn't of had the money to do the other ones so he should be a little more appreciative of the fans of the original SW's.
I edited my post BTW.

LOTR for me - I love SW, but I think LOTR are much more epic and Oscar caliber than SW. As for Indiana Jones - I only liked Raiders.

Good point, and agreed. I forgot about that. I was equally disappointed with the special ed. as compared to the original release.

Most didn't care for the "original" theatrical release on dvd last year due to the source master being LD, and that it also didn't have 5.1. As far as I'm concerned, it was a welcome release compared to the special ed. dvd IMO. It sill beats VHS, and I no longer have an ID4 sized flying saucer disc in my collection.

I wouldn't put it quite so harshly, but I'm not gonna' disagree either
