Panasonic makes a great 50" plasma, they also have a 42". They may give you some glare/reflection if your room has lots of windows. Don't worry about burn-in as much these days, it is becoming more rare. And it is rated at 100,000 hours, which is 42.5 years at 6.5 hours per day. Think about it.
yeah but playing games on plasmas is sketch...

I think I'm just going to wait until I find a better deal on a 46" LCD. Probably Sony because I like the "1 speaker on each side" look. I'll be buying more blu-ray on September 18 in the meantime

Thanks for the help guys!!!

I have a Sharp Aquos 52'' and I absolutely love it. I have a friend whom after seeing my set went and bought the 47" model and he loves it.

I've also considered plasma, but I don't like the glare, and they are still pretty expensive, especially the Pioneers which are arguably the best. The new Pio 50" in 1080p is $5,000.00! Granted, that's better then they were, and I know there are cheaper sets from other manufacturers out there, but for $2,300.00 (that's MSRP, I'm sure there will be better deals out there) you can get a Sony 50" 1080p SXRD. Heck you can get a 60" Sony for $2,700.00! Samsungs are even cheaper I believe. I definitely prefer Sony to Samsung btw, especially the SXRDs, but to each their own. I just can't afford plasma yet...someday perhaps.

I'm currently looking for a 40" to 46" LCD from Sony or Sharp. I'm pretty picky when it comes to great picture and I really haven't seen anything better than the Sony 46" XBR 1080p, however it's almost $3600 and I can't afford that.

Anyone have any suggestions?
go and GET the Sony Bravia it is just Wonderful, I have one at home buy it with the PS3 but it is 40"

but i recommend you the 46" if you have a big Room

If you really want the full experience then buy a front projector and a really large screen, at lease 106". That'll give you a much better experience than movie theaters and I think it trumps an size LCD or plasma tv.

By the way, that's the setup I have.

Mitsubishi HC3000 projector (120p/1080i)
Panoview 106" Graywolf II screen (1.8 gain)
Philips BDP9000 Blu-ray player

I think, I'm immersed.

For you it would be an obvious reason, but for many they are still uneducated about the multitude of benefits that plasma still offers over LCD. People think plasma is a dying technology, although sales are slower, its still better.

to the op.

if you really want a top of the line tv and really care for the PQ. Just get the xbr4 u can find it for around 3k in 46".

U wont find a better picture quality around. You already saidt hat urself. I'd just advice you to go with ur initial thoughts and just drop the money for it now. In 3 months.. in 6.. in a year you'll think back to your decision and feel good about it.
