Thoughts anyone?
most people arent paying for content there paying for the overall and much improved actual movie

If Fox is not going to delay the release of DH4.0, the least they can do is print out a US$15 rebate coupon for the unrated version OR do a disc-exchange program like TFE with the coupon. By doing so, they show that they are listening to our input and are doing the right thing by nurturing their BD market.

The cheapest solution is still to delay the BD release to a later date and release a PR committing to this release.

some unrated version of films aren't really worth it. it could be the case with die hard. I am just glad they are back on track, so i don't have anything to complain about.

I've found that slightly annoying too as I'm looking forward to replacing the DVD copies of my favourite catalogue titles with BD without having to keep both. I've come up with a solution although it's not completely full-proof. In the case of two-disc DVD editions where the majority of extras are found on the second disc, I will keep the second disc and sell the first disc (containing the movie) to a friend of mine who has been buying my old DVDs. He only cares about watching movies and has little to no interest in special features. The extras are only SD but that is likely how they would have been presented on a BD release anyway. Now, I'm still looking for bulk 2-disc blu-ray cases to organize my collection to include the BD movie plus the DVD containing the "extras". No luck so far.

i hear where you are coming from, but for me seeing the movie alone in HD is def worth the money, i personally could care less about the extra stuff.

Sucks that they are releasing only the rated version, but guys, has anyone thought that MAYBE they are telling the truth? Maybe it WAS too late to get the unrated version to BD in time for the release date and maybe someone at Fox thought they would release the rated version jsut to keep us happy in the mean time?? I know a lot of people are pissed about past blatant double dips, but it doesn't mean everyone is out to screw you.

That said, I like some of the ideas I have been hearing in this thread. A coupon for a discount on the rated version or a disc exchange sounds really interesting and I'd probably go for either. I'd also like Fox to give us a release date for the unrated BD, that would prove to me they are serious about getting out the content we want.

The image at the bottom with all four Die Hard covers clearly shows the Unrated edition.

Originally all the art released was of the Unrated box, but Fox has since made it very clear that was a mistake and it's not going to be unrated.

I'll probably just rent the film to start with then wait until it comes out as a full unrated release in BLu-ray. Who knows, with Seamless branching they might well stick both versions on the disk, afterall we are talking about the Theatrical release and the Directors cut are'nt we..

I don't think Fox will do a disk exchange for the Unrated if you already have the rated. A $ 10 cupon would be nice they would probably only do that with the reciept or photo copy of it.

I think as Blu-Ray supporters we should show our support to Blu-ray studios and not give them any reason to be curious about the other side.
i agree with you... just cant make everyone happy

According to this retailer, Australia is getting the Unrated version right off the bat.

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/796533

If this is the case, Fox has some explaining to do.

Boycotting the disc itself makes sense, but boycotting Fox over this is just plain stupid. I don't know if anyone is actually doing this, I'm just saying it in response to the first post.

That seems to be launching in Oz about a month later than the US date. The US date is day and date release with the DVD.

One month or even one week can determine which encode makes the deadline. Hopefully Fox will offer some sort of rebate if you want to buy the uncut version, or do a free exchange that SPHE did with TFE.

I personally could care less for the extras. just give me the absolute best picture possible. Thats what hd is all about. I have steadily been replacing standard dvds with stunning bd pq.

Sure i'd be interusted in a more violent, with longer fights, stunts and a foul mouthed hero but if all it is a fouler mouthed hero with really nothing else

It's a "to be watched" development but remember AVP directors was only 8 min
longer which is pretty sad because you know it's still chopped to hell.
so Superbad is an Unrated Extended edition... What does that equal? BTW have you seen the trailer for AVP 2? More gore in that then the first one!
