Oh, mark my words -its coming. I can feel something, by the end of the year in 2008, whether nuetral or not, Paramounted, Dreamworks and Universal will all be making Blu Ray - and when I am right, I want $5 from everyone. If I am wrong I will spend 1 week listening to the HD DVD group spew their fud - Any normal person would die in 1 day, but since I was Marine Corps force recon for 6 years, I might last 1 day and 1 hour. No but seriously, I think Universal will be at least nuetral Blu within 6-7 months. Paramounted will take a little longer. Its inevitable -sales dont lie, even if these companies are a little slow to get it. In short, they wont have a choice soon.

since this is a CC thread I will post and see waht you guys think...

It seemed like a double bladed knife to me... but IDK.

So I went to CC to look for blus and noticed that Blu-ray movies have their own little section on a spindle type thing and it has all these flashy pictures.

HD-dvd doesn't have one at all. And I was thinking cool, this CC is blu supportive. Then I started looking through the STDs just for kicks and noticed that the HD-dvds are mixed in with the STDs.

And I got to thinking... Is that good or bad? Or both?

It's good because Blu-ray has it's on little thing which says to met hat blu is much better (seperate from the rest)... And it may catch someone's eye and they might check it out...

But then I though... "wait..." What if Joe Schmoe was coming to get an STD and ran across a HD-dvd and read some bs about it being the next step in HD viewing and bought into it and left with a player and movie...

It just freaked me out and I don't really know which one to view the situation as.

I would say its a good thing, it draws people's attention to it. While they would have to look through regular dvd's to find the hd's. Makes it easier for them to choose Blu because they know right where it is.

Can someone record this footage showing the actual Bluray promotional demo setup/endcap playing these clips from Universal? This seems highly Odd....Can we have someone go to whichever Circuit City or Costco stores who have this BLURAY demo running and grab a few minutes worth of footage using a small camcorder or a cellphone video cam? I gotta see this to believe it...until then its either BLU FUD or a HUGE MISTAKE on BDA's part..the could be sued for that....ARE YOU SURE THIS WAS NOT an HDDVD demo station? I havent seen any of those HDDVD demo statios either...hmmmm...Did you actually see other clips from KNOWN BLUERAY studios like Fox, Sony, Dinsey, MGM? Or was it all clips for Universal movies?

Sounds to me like somebody is just looking for attention. Blu-ray/HD DVD would not be that dumb as to put something that wasn't theirs onto a demo disc without first releasing some sort of statement about switching sides.

i think it was a combined thing so dont get your hopes up. I was just so surprised to see those clips that i wigged out and had to post something. as of now don't think the promo thing was true. it was a new CC... maybe they combined the vids to show both formats or something... too bad.. i got really excited

Went to CC and did they did not have any Blu-Ray demo loop playing - everything was on some HDTV show.

Webt to Best Buy and the Sony end cap demo had Wonka and Batman Begins plus other WB titles that I have not seen.

While browsing Blu-Ray players (getting my sister one for her wedding) the BB sales person was answering questions to a gentalman interested in DVDs in HD. The sales person then told the gentalman that the Blu-Ray player COULD NOT play SD DVDs and that only the LG DF or HD-DVD player could play SD-DVDs. Owning 2 Blu-Ray sand alown players (both of the ones that he said could not play SD-DVDs) I jumped in and answered many complex questes involving HDMI/HDCP and upconverting (complex to the sales person not me...). The gentalman ended up walking out with a Panasonic Blu-Ray player.

You should have walked up to the store's general manager and complained about their salemen's "lack of knowledge" or possibly "well-calculated lies and FUD" .... I highly doubt someone working at a best buy store not knowing that bluray players will plau SDDVDs....
I am so glad you were there, I wish all of us could have enought free time to hang around retails stores and keep an eye out for idiot salesmen and liars who choose to give wrong info to customers to buy one format over the other

Well he did say that the gen 1 Samsung players could play SDDVD if that is any consolation.

'Sin City!' I hope we get an announcement soon about the arrival of this title on Blu-ray.

I can't even count how many times a salesman at BB & CC has had such terrible knowledge it's sicking Usualy just not to insult I nod my head as if he's teaching me somthing but other times I get so p'd I go off...here's a few ex's just in the past 2-3weeks.......CC guy told me "Vizio does not make 1080P tv's"...also at CC(different salesman "PCM Audio on the back of BD's is just a fancy name for Dolby 5.1 I think it's short for Pretty Cool Audio or something like that"---no lie the guy actually said that!!...at BB "HDMI video cables are different from HDMI audio cables"...these are just a few examples theres like 4 more things thier salesman(cc & bb) have said to me that made me say in my head WOW this guy's don't know anything!!
