I'm looking to pick up Terminator 1 and 2 today.
As for the "Future War" movie, I think they will cover a good deal of it in "The Sarah Conner Chronicles", slated for Jan 2008. There is indeed a leaked pilot out there, that I have seen. Looks good, and is FOX, so if it hits DVD, there may be a Blu-ray version of it as well. But if the show doesn't get into the Future War stuff, it will certainly set a stage for it. And you get nifty T-800 goodness in the TV show also. |

Furthermore, Friedman stated that the events of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines have no bearing on this timeline, but do occur in an alternate timeline.
http://tv.ign.com/articles/798/798086p1.html The reviews of the pilot, and also my impression of the pilot, is that yes, they do not have the budget of the movies, so less action sequences. But, this is the big point for me: the series seems so deeply ingrained in the Terminator mythology. There are moments that give me chills because they definitely link up to the good mythology that was there before T3. The plot element of time travel is also done really well, from what is shown in the pilot. Oh, and you do know that Summer Glau, who played River in Serenity, will be a main character in this series? (And she does a superior job). That will make the series rock, but I think it will be another "Firefly", in that FOX will can it too soon, only to make it have a cult following after cancellation. Here's hoping they save it with an Arnold cameo in the season finale. |

In one of the Extra's on T2 (?) Arnold talks about how cheaply the first movie was done. He jokes that on the budget of that film they spent just on his set trailer for T2.
The effects didn't have to be spectacular. They did the job. The story and action did the rest. James Cameron made it happen. He needs to come back. |
