Don't get too happy, I wouldn't expect much from WB. They treat their Horror titles like the redheaded step child they are ashamed of.

I agree. If we get any kind of box set at all, it will probably be just like the From Crystal Lake to Manhattan DVD box set. 2 movies on each disc and will only include the following Paramount films:

Friday the 13th
Friday the 13th II
Friday the 13th III
Friday the 13th IV: The Final Chapter
Friday the 13th V: A New Beginning
Friday the 13th VI: Jason Lives
Friday the 13th VII: The New Blood
Friday the 13th VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan

Which would be fine with me, but it would be nice if they included the New Line Cinema films as well.

I have no issue buying a boxset for all of the FT13 titles, I paid $15 during U&S for parts 1, 2, and the 2009 remake. I have no issue with parting with these individual titles once a boxset is confirmed to be released.

Unless something really special happens with this. I'm going to keep all my deluxe editions of part 1-8. I have all the F13 movies. Only one I have on blu ray is F13 09.

I sold off my DVD Box set and Have parts 1-3 on bluray so I would rather them not do a box set but either way as long as they are on bluray I would be happy even if I had to buy the box set and sale of what I already have.

Is Warner going to give Jason the same love and care they gave The Elm Street films? You know, the "release one film one year, two double features two years later and an exclusive license for the rest of the films to a joke of a retailer like Best Buy 3 years after the double feature" treatment? Seriously, what could Warner possibly want with another franchise they'll just disregard the same way Paramount did?

So wait, does this mean Warner own the Paramount F13 films now or are they just simply sub-licensing them from Paramount due to their deal.

This is awesome news I hope, if they do a box set, that they'll include the New Line ones, Jason goes to Hell is a huge guilty pleasure of mine

I believe it's just a licensing deal.

Correct me if Im wrong but arent Jason Goes to Hell and the rest with New Line Cinema which is why they dumped the Friday the 13th moniker ?
Also since Im interested in 1-3 - I have the Blu Rays of those, but from what I gathered they arent uncut - but they are good releases generally speaking arent they ?
Ill leave the answers to the Jason Pro's

What's the big deal?

I've seen Part 1 and Part 2.
Are the other parts worth watching? IMDb ratings do not promise much .

I think Paramount at the time still owned the name Friday the 13th. why 9 and 10 weren't called that.

It's a common misconception that Paramount kept the rights to the "Friday the 13th" name which forced New Line to drop the title for the 9th and 10th films.

The truth is, New Line actually owns the title and simply chose not to use it. If you look at the back of the original DVDs of 5-8 you'll see that Paramount actually had to credit New Line for using the name because New Line held the trademark. They probably should have been doing this on the discs for 1-4 too.

To further complicate things Warner had to involve Paramount to co-produce the remake because they own certain story elements from the first three films upon which the remake was based. Then you have Warner's international rights and you end up with a tangled web of ownership between studios that is largely obliterated by this new agreement.

Warner Bros. owns New Line Cinema. They are NLC's parent company. So, now, Warner Bros have the rights to release ALL of the Friday the 13th films on Blu-ray.

I am sure New Line went with a different title to take the stigma out of the fact that it was the ninth film. they did the same with Freddy's Dead.

It probably isn't in great shape, but it might be good enough to be added via seamless branching ala My Bloody Valentine (1981). That would allow the viewer to pick the more pristine theatrical cut or the variable quality uncut films.
