I fell dirty saying this but leon is right, The bourne ultimatum is sicker than spiderman 3 or pirates, what people overlook is it's the 4 highest money maker of the summer and problably the best movie of the summer. UNIVERSAL NEEDS TO GO BLU!

I saw Ultimatum at the theater and I wasn't impressed. I didn't think it was bad, but just ok. Julia's (Nicky) role in the movie seemed to be thrown in with no real direction for her. The action scenes were nice, but the plot was a mess. I really enjoyed the 1st one. To me, the 2nd Bourne movie was ok (didn't like the action cam technique among other things).

It might be 20,000 units under Ratatouille sales wise. I would be surprised if it's any closer.

It will sell massive too. Bda group really need to step it up with the advertisement, and go out there and explain the technology more (!)

edit: and standalone players need to come down down down asap ! Sony has always a little negative review for being arrogant and sort of laid back. I just dont get with all the massive industry/manufactor support and almost no pushing of the format ? And people say Hd sales are so low ?? Not weird at all.
Other companies need to heavily advertise their Blu players to get the word out that:

1) Blu-ray is NOT a Sony format like UMD that is only for the PS3
2) There are lot's of companies supporting Blu

As much as I used to think that studios would determine the war outright (overwhelmingly support bluray) Im starting to feel it will be retailers. Probably because they want to pre-empt any move by the studios. Why would they want to get stuck with a ton of HDDVD players/movies when the format tanks? So they can put it all on clearance and lose out on profits instead of just picking bluray, having better margins and having a greater sales volume in general. Plus they cannot like having that extra shelf space and having some movies in 3 freakin formats.

It will take more time, since as of right now HDDVD isnt doing THAT badly. But I feel when it does start it will be a chain reaction. No one wants to be the "only" store that doesnt sell HDDVD. But hopefully once it starts the other major retailers will think "what the hell, we might as well drop this useless crap too"

They could use more advertisement, thats true, and 1.0 blu-ray players should at most be between $300-400. But you also need to calm down. We have an overwhelming lead in players, and our lead is growing every day. Sure you might have liked Bourne more. But SM, Pirates and Simpsons movie will all sell better, since they all cater to the PS3 demographic and the PS3 demographic is also BY FAR the biggest segment in HDM. Bourne wont come anywhere close to Transformers in terms of sales, and Im pretty sure all 3 of the BD releases will match or surpase TF. Then add the other half-dozen or more big name Bluray exclusives. Hell add in the Harry Potter movies, we all know they'll sell 2-1 in favor a bluray and combined they'll move A LOT of titles, possibly even 1-million combined if you count each movie as a "sale"

Blu has all of the CE'S support because they are not selling their product at a large loss. For anyone other than Phillips and Sony, if there is not any money to be made, why make a product. Where ever you work at, start selling your product at a loss and see how long you stay in business.

If TF was on BD as well... it would have more than tripled it's sales!

Well no...

As my home snake Tron (shout out!) has pointed out before, Mr. Lucas (I call him G-Luc because we are tight) put Star Wars out on Laser Disc and that ended well.

One title will not make or break a format.

They have (had, TF is already released) 2 and a half blockbusters.
That's TF, Bourne (yup, excellent imho) and the very disapointing Shrek 3.
Tosh just had to have something in return for their $150M, right?

Now, this is whatthey are looking at for the end of the year on BD
Spiderman 3 (easily as big as TF), Pirate 3 (bigger than TF, believe me or not), Cars & Ratatouille, Die Hard 4 (and the Die Hard trilogy too), all exclusives, and along with the Simpsons movie who did amazingly well.

Bourne will not do as well as TF imho, far from it, and the end of the year will be Blu-Ray, no problem.

I know were winning in the numbers but for one format to previal as the domonant format, it has to be dominated by an huge margin and this isn't going to happen. We have spiderman but they also have the Bourne ultimatum which will also sell huge, the win will take time. Blu will prevail! but not for a while....

Transformsers did well because it appealed to kids/families. Spiderman also appealed to kids and families. The Bourne movie was a adult action flick, not many kids in the theater to watch that one. Though it did well, it does not have the broad fan base.

Okay, so HD DVD has Transformers and Bourne Ultimatum,...what else?...What else do they have that will counter Meet the Robinsons, Spiderman 3, Pirates, Live Free Die Hard, the remainder of the Die Hard Trilogy, Simpsons Movie, Cars, Ratatouille, I Robot, Independence Day, etc?

Not much at all, thus why I'm wondering why so many people are wiging out simply based on a suspicious (whether it is shipped or sold) number released by Paramount.

Calm down people, you make me wanna throw up in some tinfoil and eat it!

Obivously given your lack of time on the forum. I was referencing a post by Tron 3. He was pointing out that Star Wars was on Laser Disk and that was supposed to keep that format alive, well it didn't, it died.

I am just going to tell you to watch yourself because I will not take it lightly.
