Book 1 and Book 3 were 1080p/24 but Book 2 was certainly 1080i/60. Hopefully they also release Book 4 in 1080p/24.

The issue with Book 3 wasn't that it was 1080i, they fixed it to be 1080p. But supposedly it wasn't done as effectively as the 1080p on Book One and it actually might have been better looking if they had left it alone at 1080i. This is what I gathered from reading comments on the set.

Yup, Book 3 should have been left 1080i if they weren't going to do anything about it. It was a straight reverse telecine without any touchups. Book 1 did take a while for it to come out on home video so they had all that time to make it the best out of it.

Crossing my fingers that Book 4 will return to its roots but I doubt it - in terms of video presentation like Book 1's.

Has anyone seen the fourth season of Korea at Target or Best Buy today?

Seasons 1-3 were awesome, especially season 2. This season was a disappointment from beginning to end for me. I will definitely pick up the first 3 at some point but I think I'm just going to have to think of 3 as the end and forget about this season.

Yeah, I'm also not very excited by this release. The shoehorned romance ending soured me a bit on the finale, and I wasn't a big fan of how Kuvira was defeated, or the giant robot, or the stupid clipshow they were forced to stick into the middle of the season, and Wu was grating as well.

Best Buy has it for $24.99. It comes with a slipcover like the previous seasons.

3 > 4 > 1 > 2

And I'll just say I think this ending is better than The Last Airbender's.

Heh, I've never seen anyone say that book 2 was the best. I love the whole series, but book 2 is definitely my least favorite.

I got book 4 in the mail today, it's so great to have all of Avatar and Korra on disc. And I still can't believe that Nickelodeon released this on Blu-ray in the first place AND finished the series on it.

Book 4 comes with a really cool mini-poster. I love when they do stuff like this!

The clipshow was unnecessary, but either we get this or withdraw a portion of the Korean staff. There has to be a compromise.

But yeah, I'm with you on the complaints, although I remain more optimistic about the season.

*still waits for Book 4 to come by mail*

EDIT: Oh hey, it came.

*checks back cover*

ERGH! They're still doing that stupid thing by mentioning how many commentaries are exclusive to the BD, instead of how many commentaries they are in it altogether. >

EDIT (x2): Oh wow, they mistitled "The Battle of Zaofu" on the inside cover...

AND in the main menu! XD

Picked this up at Hastings on sale for $19.99. Although,it is $24.69 on their website. I will be looking for the misprints on the booklet and on the blu menu later today. I hope those are the only mistakes with the release. I am bothered by Nick not taking the time to proofread this final blu release of Korra. I guess we should be grateful that they even released it on blu.

I'm hoping that Book 4 doesn't have the same video quality issues as Book 3 (especially the Original Airbenders episode). If the video transfer for 4 is equal to Book 1 then I may be able to get over The Battle of Zaofu misprints.

You can try price matching it at Amazon. I suggest chatting with a rep so they can directly PM it for you.

oh...my..GOB! THE REPUBLIC CITY HUSTLE WEB-SERIES IS INCLUDED IN THIS SET!!

I would've loved it to have a "play all" option, but this is better than nothing. I am pleasantly surprised about this addition, and I would've given this set five stars for that inclusion alone.

(Oh, and there's a Kuvira vs. Wu online promo in it...for some reason)

As for the video quality, I only checked the two episodes: "Korra Alone" and the infamous "Remembrance". It's all 1080p, but this time, it seems like Nick has learned their lesson; I don't notice any interlacing issues that plagued the last set. It has banding issues, which Ken Brown will gladly point out, but that's always been inherent to the source material.

If the rest of the episodes are like this, then this set is on par with Book 1's video fidelity.

My local Best Buy had it even though it showed none in stock in my area online.

Light stocking at my Best Buy and it seems like they no longer carry the first three books. Anyway, glad I got it. Can't wait to BD marathon this series.

I don't know about "gladly," but, um, yeah, there's some banding. Plus a bit of artifacting in darker color fills if you're really scrutinizing

I'm working my way through the episodes now but, so far, the S4 BD is much more in line with Season 1's BD. (With a high video bitrate to boot.) And, yep, it's all inherent to the source animation, which makes it easier to shrug off after acknowledging it's there

Man I don't get why they went through these video "hiccups" when mastering the later books of Korra on Blu-Ray. This show is one that deserves the best video presentation possible, it's a shame Book 3 went through the worse. Guess I'm glad to hear the final book is back on the right track, if not better than the first.

I was hoping that Amazon would lower the price to $19.99 before today's release so that I could get it for under $25. I did manage to get it release day through them though, can't complain too much. It was supposed to arrive tomorrow (Wednesday) but somehow got here in under 1 shipping day.

Very happy to own both Avatar and Korra now as another stated above me. I really love this release. The reverse cover art is absolutely awesome too, it is the image I wanted to be on the front cover initially. The poster is a nice touch as well, love any little extra item even if I won't get around to using it.

It has been a long journey with the Avatar series and while I may not be happy with the outcome of Korra, I am happy to own it all. The sped-up releases since last July made me super happy too.
