I thought this movie was absolutely atrocious. I liked the score in the beginning, but loathed it 30 minutes in. I felt the movie had no point. I did feel it probably has a huge 'inside' following. Perhaps I just didn't get it, but I really tried. I simply cannot reconcile how others loved it and I hated it so much....?
I came out of this film with one thought: "This is why I don't take risks in theaters." |

Felt the same then. I was partially hoping someone would have seen a redeeming quality about the film and pointed out something to me that would make me see the film differently. I like all of the actors....

Finally caught this last week. It was the day after Xmas, and I watched this and The Hobbit:Battle of the 5 Armies in the same day. It really was the perfect lead-in, and a fantastic movie.
Keaton was incredible, really shined above the rest of the cast, of which there were many good actors. Watching them "act" as actors, the commentary on celebrity and Hollywood blockbusters, all made me look at the Hobbit finale in a way that made it clear for what it was. While still a fun film in a fantastic run of Middle Earth films, it really had little merit for anything beyond almost two hours of CGI fight scenes. Birdman was my favorite film that day. Still looking forward to picking up both on Day 1, but probably more excited to give this another viewing. |
