TNT has a lot of stuff that is not really HD.

But it is usually pretty apparent.

I thought if it has the glowing hd symbol on the guide it is in hd and both of the movies do.

doesn't mean it looks hd it just means that they converted it to the higher resolution and thats what there broadcasting it in then.

They do that "Stretching 4:3" bull crap them and A&EHD do it, I hate it.

Yeah the stretching crap is very annoying. Though I did like some the TNT basketball games from last year that were broadcast in HD they looked pretty good.

Huh, you now that 4:3 is just the aspect ratio right? It has nothing to do with resolution. Most PC monitors are 4:3 yet can display resolutions up to 1600x1200.

Although I don't doubt that they are using animorphic widescreen on ther SD encoded 16:9 programing. This means that if you got a 4:3 TV, it will be letter boxed, if you got widescreen, it will fill the entire screen, just like a normal DVD movie would.

Programs broadcasted in HD will state so, if not it's still SD.

unfortuanately SDTV broadcasts will continue for quite some time longer.

Unfortunately this thread never ended up providing information from Cedia thus I'm closing it. If anyone comes across some articles about Cedia please feel free to post them in a new thread. Hopefully Jim will have some insight to share with us soon as well.
