I believe this was the very first horror movie I saw - on German television, which we could get in southern Denmark. It was naturally dubbed in German, too. Luckily I grew up watching Sesame Street in German, so it quickly became like a second language to me. Since my parents were probably the last on earth to get a VCR, most of the horror I watched during the 1980's was in fact on German television. It took years before I managed to see all of them again in their original language. ![]() |

Thanks so much for the heads up. Could just just please link to the article or comment where it mentions this?
Anyway, just went ahead and bought on Amazon for around $21. The most important question: are OTHER Kino Vincent Price Blu-ray releases also going out of print? If so, must jump on them fast! Thanks! |

Re-release coming from Kino on September 6th. Same master, and extras as previous release, but English subs are now included, and a limited edition slipcover.

Since there isn't a separate thread for The Oblong Box, I thought I'd drop by and mention what I mentioned on the Vincent Price thread. Hi-Def Digest has reported that both this and The Oblong Box have new, better encodings and are now pressed on BD-50 discs. Screenshot comparisons are in both reviews to show the improvement.

Did Smith and Martin record the commentary together? It initially sounds like it but they never interact, and at one point one of them is in the middle of a tangent, the other interrupts to talk about what's on-screen, and then once that's done the tangent resumes like nothing happened.
I don't understand why you would make a commentary that way. |

The bit that gets me is at about 1:15:30, where Martin is discussing the publication of the original novel, and it feels like he gets cut off mid-sentence so Smith can talk about the cast as Price and Garland first enter the house. Once he's done, Martin resumes discussing the novel as though Smith's interjection had never happened.
