Have to say, I don't really care that it's being remade, it's just that there is no point.

What I mean by that is, the state film is in these days I don't even think they'd do a shot for shot remake because of all the Social Justice Warriors and PC Police! The way the priests are depicted would draw the ire of these people. The masturbation scene would have to be removed. Think about this. Regan was 12!! I can just picture it now. Neutered PG-13, handheld camera shite. Regan would be an adopted 18 year old hottie because her Mother would just have to be black, because diversity. Gahh!

That said, IF they had the balls to REALLLLLY push the envelope and go even further than the original did then count me in, but there's no way they would have the nuts, so what's the point?

That being said, the possibility exists that a new take on The Exorcist has great potential -- if done well.

It's ripe with potential. The themes are so universal. What better villain than Satan? It's whether or not the executives have the balls to really go for it, or play it safe. I'll bet it's the latter.

The remakes for Halloween, Psycho, Carrie, Poltergiest, The Fog, Black Christmas, Fright Night, Evil Dead, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc. were all great films and much better than the originals.

Those are weird movies to have options to remake. The Exorcist is the only one that makes sense.

I would only watch an Exorcist remake if they make it with the classy, gothic, atmospheric aspect of the original with more outdoor cinematography to reflect the autumn season.

I'm not completely anti-remake, there have been many good ones, but this is one of those times where it just feels unnecessary in every way. Oh well, we've already had a couple truly awful sequels/prequels so what difference does it make at this point?
