This show rocked, as much as I liked Buffy, Angel was much better.

Yes. I have said before I want Angel and Buffy and many other shows on blu-ray and I'd even be willing to pay more money for them if they are done right. They should do what they can to get all episodes framed for widescreen and re-do the effects and it would be awesome!

Nah. Watched it from start to finish when it aired but have no need to watch it over.

Also, was this was one of the shows that aired over the transition between 4:3 and 16:9 broadcasting - i.e. are the earlier seasons shot on SD video at 4:3 with later seasons being shot in HD at 16:9? Or was it all shot on film?

Either way, the original broadcasts of the earlier seasons will be 4:3, like Buffy.

I am a Angel Fan but I will not rebuy these after it costs me abit first time round, the box sets, unless they were like $25 ea I might be interested....hell I don't even watch the show anymore but it will live long in my memories, I have better fish to fry.

PS:I liked Angel better than Buff, but Buff was good too, although Buff dragged out liked stained undies where as Angel ended too early!

There are few if any TV shows that are worth it for me...I have to want to watch them multiple times in order to make it worth it...

That only leaves 2.

Firefly and my favorite...Babylon 5.

I respect your opinion but I don't know how anyone who liked the show at all would not want to own their own copy of it.

I personally have not found a single TV series (at least nothing that has premiered or started since the fall of 2004) on television since "Angel" ended that has come to be as equally as consistently-solid and re-watchable as it (and "Buffy" as well). So, no better fish to fry on this end, certainly.

I also have to respectfully vastly disagree with you on your stance that "Buffy" went on too long but agree about "Angel", of course. Both series now are continuing in comic book form however, needless to say.

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Angel" and "Firefly" are the series that I can and love to watch over and over again and get the exact same amount of enjoyment and fulfillment out of every single time.

In short, they are more than worth it.

I am a big fan of the whole Buffy-Angel universe, and have collected all of the season sets of both shows on DVD.

Actually, watching them on DVD was the first time I watched most of the episodes, as I didn't really give Buffy much of a chance when it originally started airing, and by the time that show was on for a few years and Angel had spun off, there was so much history on the show that I knew nothing about that it would have been kind of hard to just jump on board.

Then one day a few years back (this was around Oct/Nov of 2002, when Buffy was in the early part of it's final season on TV, and Angel was in it's 4th season) I picked up the first two seasons of Buffy on DVD and marathoned them over a couple/few weeks or so, and I was hooked. I think that January and February respectively, they released Buffy season 3 and Angel Season 1, and I marathoned those as they came out. I then started watching the newer episodes of both shows on TV. There were still plenty of blanks to fill in, particularly on Angel since the cast had changed pretty dramatically between Season 1 and Season 4 (and I hadn't yet seen anything inbetween). As the further sets came out, I bought them and marathoned them each time (while watching newer episodes on TV where applicable), eventually seeing the entirety of both series. I think my record for most episodes watched in a day was with Angel season 2. At the time I had a day off of work during which I had nothing to do, and over the course of that day I watched 12 episodes.

I've been wanting to watch them again for a while. I really want to watch them they way they are "meant" to be seen. Meaning after the first 3 seasons of Buffy, I would go back and forth between Buffy and Angel episodes, since when they were on the same network they would show them both together when they were new, and sometimes things that happened on one show would crossover into the other, and it would be better watched in that order.

But then things get complicated during the separate network era. While not as often, they do somethings on one show that at least kind of/sort of effect the other, but the specific interval of one episode of one show, then one of the other no longer works out exactly like it used to, so I will have to figure out some plan of viewing to account for that. But I do want to do that at some point.

As for a Blu-Ray release, I wouldn't be against it, but I also don't know if I would buy it. At least not for what it would likely cost. While the quality would most likely be a lot better, that would just get very very pricey to rebuy THAT MUCH of something I already own. For me to buy them, they would have to come out at a REALLY GOOD (meaning low) price, which isn't likely with the format currently.

Though, if they are going to do it, I think they should wait a couple of years when Blu-Ray has a larger audience and the general price of the discs go down. They would have to release them for a really low price though to convince most people to double dip.

It's one thing to rebuy a series of 3 movies or something, but to rebuy entire TV series is something else entirely.

I will say though, that of the relatively long running TV series that I've collected on DVD, I would probably consider rebuying Buffy and Angel more so than most any other series I've collected.

lol... Sorry, I just re-read your post. I understand what you're saying about Jack, but I didn't think Season 9 & 10 were bad, just different. Personally I thought worst Season was Season 8. But this show is easily the best show for me to rewatch.

Firefly would be good,
Babylon 5 I would pick up, if they do I hope they would redo the graphics to make it look like Babylon 5 Lost Tales.

9 and 10 weren't bad. The series finale in my opinion was pretty weak. But if I had a choice to rewatch episodes with col. o'neill or gen. o'neill, I pick col. o'neall hands down.
What happened in season 8 that was so bad? I don't remember off-hand.
Also, I have to say I really wanted to see a Furblog or whatever they were called, one of the ancient races, before the show ended. They all died off on that one planet where o'neil and mayborn were trapped was such a copout.

Sorry I guess I had a poor choice in words
I wasn't really bad, I feel it was the weakest Season of SG-1. Season 8 is when Jack becomes General and takes over the SGC and it seems the writers where saying "Ok, now what are we going do." It's didn't seem the show really had a direction to go. They had direction again in Season 9, the problem with that season was there were too many character changes all at once and Carter was away for the first half of the Season, but over it wasn't bad just different.

Oh, Season 8 was when Jack became General. Yeah, it wasn't bad you're right. So Season's 1-7 were great. 8, 9, 10 were different but good. They did lose sight of what was really what the show was about. It seemed like the writers were tired of the show almost. Then again, they are supposedly writing, or were writing before the strike, a sci-fi movie or 2 for the real finale.

Also, I really think the show was the best when it was on showtime. No commercials. Not that it matters with tivo or dvr now. But the budget was higher and so on.

They finished shooting them months ago. First one out in March. No Blu announced for some reason (grr)

The budget was lower on Showtime. Also the show has always been designed for commercials because syndication was a year behind

Yes the first movie will be March 11 and the 2nd movie should be out in June.

Correct, when it was on showtime they had a lower budget. If I remember correctly they increase the budget almost every year until the end.
