That's surely tempting, thanks for the heads up! As I've just seen it (and the lack of special features), I can wait a little longer. However, I will add this to my collection.

Does anyone know if this has an episode list or synopsis on the interior artwork (or a separate insert, even)? If so, any chance you could scan it or get a good picture?

Yes, there us an episode list with brief synopsis on the back of the cover, seen through the case. I don't see why you'd need a photo of it though.

My thoughts.....

1. This is a very disappointing Blu-Ray release. The only extras are deleted scenes. BTS extras for every single episode exist and I have seen them, but they were not included in the home video release. I suspect commentaries exist as well. That being said, I still bought the Blu-Ray.

2. I love this show. It's an adequate replacement for Battlestar Galactica or more to the point, Stargate Universe. SyFy needs to continue adding shows like this to it's line-up. It's more blah-blah drama than action at this point, but it's still a good show if you want to watch something that you can invest yourself in.

3. You need to buy this Blu-Ray release at the $30-ish price. Just do it. If you don't, there will likely be no future releases because home video is dying due to streaming/OnDemand. The reason why Mill Creek - of all companies - has Universal's classic TV releases in their catalog now is because people decided to stream releases like the classic Battlestar Galactica. The same thing happened to Star Trek, which was killed by releasing the HD masters to the streaming services, allowing people to skip investing in the Blu-Ray releases of the remastered shows.

I watched a few episodes on cable and liked it so much that I quit in order to watch the Blu-ray. The quality of presentation is night and day. I rarely ever watch extras, since they tend to be about the making of the film, and I avoid them since it helps me to suspend my disbelief. The books are fun reads, and I thought the show would be sub-par, but they are not. It is certainly worth the $30 price tag.

I picked it up at Best Buy on release, they only had one copy of the blu-ray, hopefully because other people bought some. My wife and I love this show, it's our new favorite. Unforunately it was poorly marketed by Syfy and this release seems WAY under the radar, so I'm afraid low sales and low ratings are going to kill it early. Get the word out, if you like serious sci fi, give this show a chance. That said, I am bummed for the price it only had deleted scenes.

I had this pre-ordered from a while back. I watched the first 4 or 5 episodes on DVR, but quit to just wait for the Blu once I heard of the relatively quick release date. First series among the new SyFy shows (Killjoys, Dark Matter being the other 2) to get released.

So after I watched TFA Tuesday night (love Amazon Prime shipping, btw), I started with bingeach watching The Expanse, Wednesday. Watched the first disc Wednesday. Watched the second disc Thursday. I love this series. If you combine the Brown Decks of B5 with BSG, you get The Expanse.

First of all, I love the space visuals. First series as far as I know to use full 1080p renderings of space ships/stations. BSG only rendered in 720p I believe. (I haven't seen Killjoys or Dark Matter yet, so I don't know about them.)

From what I gather is that this first season is based on the first book of the Expanse trilogy. So if the pattern holds, this series may only run for three seasons anyway.

haha well I'm not sure where you got your info, but there are already 5 books out, a 6th coming this year, and 9 total planned

Plus season one doesn't completely finish book one. It gets close but there's still some big stuff left to cover

I would guess similar to Hateful Eight they didn't want to add another disc. Five episodes per disc is pretty much the proper compression limit, so adding a bunch of featurettes would have harmed picture quality a bit. I probably never would have watched them anyway, so whatever, but I do wish the set had commentaries.

Watched the first episode of this and enjoyed it. I'll wait a bit longer to see if it hits Netflix so I can finish it. If not, then I'll probably just buy the blu once it hits $20 or under.

I bought this yesterday from Best Buy. I had a $10 Shopkick certificate available that I had forgotten about it, so I got it for $22.99 plus tax and then sold the digital copy for $15!

I have wanted to watch this since I started seeing trailers for it, so I blind bought it based on what I have seen, heard, and read about it.

I also want to support any TV on Blu-ray release that Universal puts out with the hope that somehow, someday, we'll get complete series releases of "The Office" and "Parks & Recreation" on Blu-ray.

Amazon lists subs for the hearing impaired. Do they sub the Belter dialogue?

I'm definitely picking this up on bluray, although it sucks to hear there's not many extras. I would have really liked any episode commentary by Thomas Jane or the writers. I've only read the first two books of the series but so far the show has really surpassed my expectations.

Nah, don't wait. That wait you can read the end of the first book and proceed through the rest of the books in the series.

Heard many positive things about the show I'll have to grab the BD at some point.

This series is great. For anyone wondering they don't even finish the first book in season one.

as a general scif-fi/space opera lover, and having moderately liked the recent Dark matter and Killjoys, I wasn't expecting much.
I was stunned by the quality of the intrigue and the universe, characters act interlligently and really think and act abou what's going on. Ending wasn't what I expected but it was in the theme and to make the story go on I guess
[Show spoiler](having the young woman they chase after was a shock)

Awaiting the next season, hope they keep the strong story and involved characters.

Yep. And this just means its being watched by...other means which doesnt help either. If they just put it on TV, people like me would watch it and then some of those people would want to buy a DVD/blu-ray of it. As it is...just gonna be more pirating!

The future we're headed toward, where you have to subscribe to tons of different services to see everything and never really own anything, is going to push piracy more as well. I know I'm not subscribing to Netflix AND Hulu AND Amazon Prime AND CBS Access AND BBC iPlayer AND more and more coming down the pipe.
