BB has got some Sony BR players for $299 also. Didn't check the others. Sweet. WAIT, WAIT, WAIT A SECOND!!! Just found out some unimportant information. HD-DVD PLAYERS HAVE DROPPED TO $50, and the DVDs ARE BOG5 FREE!

Not a Fire Sale at ALL, it's not a sale it's just to bring in 1.1 players and Holiday pricing.

A lot depends on the TV 1st. & what do you mean '1080i transport'? setting the player to 1080i?

I can tell the diffrent, it is not always apparent in some case.

why are you here?

I am not talking to you any more.

It's Christmas... you can always find good deals around this time. Plus the new 1.1 profile players. Combination of both...

How do you know if a title is 1.1 or beyond?
Is the jacket labelled or something?

I am going to get Resident Evil Extinction, plus the others, and hopefully these will be 1.1? (I know mayn have panned the RE line, but I liked them all)

Is there a store that has this title now and is shipping? I know the street date is around Jan 1, 08

i could be wrong but i don't think the player will output at 24fps on 1080i. i thought 24fps was only available through 1080p. same with the tv. can anyone confirm or deny that a BD player can output 24fps at 1080i or that a TV can display 24fps on 1080i?

It would most likely tell you on the back of the case with the video specs. The only way to tell is to go to BB with a pair of gloves on and some tongs and search for the HD-DVDs that would have it and see if it says anything.

Actually, on my Yamaha reciever, it will only accept 1080i and not 1080p. But, if I set it to 1080p and watch a movie with 24fps enabled, it will pass that just fine. So in a way, he's right about that.

But I don't consider this a fire sale. Most of these players are going to have a set price of $299 or less now. To me, a fire sale is what Toshiba did. They had a bunch of non-moving, discontinued products (in this case, these Blu-Ray players were obviously still moving and not discontinued) that they needed to get rid of. So they had their little sale to try to stay in the game and it didn't turn out so well. 90,000 units were sold, yet HD DVD software sales didn't increase much, if at all.

You own a Samsung 1400, yet you are hoping Resident Evil is 1.1? Why? Won't make a difference to you seeing as the 1400 is 1.0 only.

All, just a quick reminder that engaging a troll is giving them what they want, and calling them one out-right is just feeding the monster. Use the report button underneath everyone's member name (the little white triange with '!' in the middle surrounded by (and this is funny) a red border) and list the reasons why you are reporting them. Let the mods do their jobs and ignore the little buggers in the mean-time.

Because I can use the 1.1 features on my PC with the Pioneer BD drive even though the 1400 may not/will not present the 1.1 features.
