Thanks for the update, I'm hopefully still 2-3 years away from upgrading as I can't afford to adopt 4K just yet and my TC-P60VT60 is still giving me a wonderful picture experience, but I am extremely excited for the time when I do get to move into OLED.

I've watched the newest 65" LG OLED playing the 4K demo loop as my local AV dealer has it hooked up just inside the entranceway (I think it's around $11k Canadian) and it is truly remarkable.

Fully agree on the flat/curved, I hope by the time I've saved up enough to make the transition that consumer preference will ensure the best panels are at least available as flat panels if not only available flat.

by the time they get the 4K OLED straightened out..8K will be here. Plasma's are still the way to go. So if you have one, take good care of it. It is still a mystery to me why LG is the only one with an OLED on the market. Can everyone else be wrong about OLED, or are they planning something bigger down the road.

There is no money to be made on OLED so no other makers are getting into the act. Too many probs with OLED for me to replace a perfect working 60tv60.

I've heard about the new Sony 950-D launching fairly soon that might be worth looking at before making a 65" 4k tv purchase. I'd love to get one to replace my 55" HX929 but I'm worried about initial pricing.

I can say as someone who was ready to make the plunge into 4K HDR this year that LED has come a long way. I've sworn by my plasma for years as the black levels and contrast were hard to beat at the time for any comparative model. If I had of had an unlimited income I would have gone with an OLED but I settled on an LED with a large amount of local dimming zones. Aside from a slightly more limited viewing area this set runs circles around my plasma in all other aspects. I'm not much on sports so I can't speak on the motion rate outside of some pro wrestling which looked really good. I still would like an OLED down the line once prices get a bit more reasonable, though I wonder how reasonable they'll be with LG basically being the only company invested in it right now.

The curve lends more rigidity to a very thin panel. Consider a piece of paper. If you support it from the bottom while flat, it will flop over, but curve it, and it will completely support itself. So there may be some fragility issues related to the thinness of the panels, and people favor the thin esthetic just as much as the weight can be an issue for thicker panels. But, yeah, a curved screen is also bad for anyone but the single individual who can sit at the center of radius.

With the impending launch of PS Neo, I've been thinking about the upgrade myself. I would keep my VT60 that I watch most of my movies on, but I would replace the 52XBR2 fossil I game on (it's getting a permanent yellow stripe near the right edge, anyway). Stopped gaming on the VT60 due to burn in.

Yeah but does it HAVE to be that thin? Personally I'd rather have a thicker panel that's not curved and I'd be willing to bet most would feel the same way.

My god you're lucky you don't like in NZ. You would be watching a blank wall.

I'll gladly take a little bulk to get a panel that is straight but I sure don't mind the bezels getting thinner.

I'm still trucking along with my Samsung PN50B650 and that thing has bezel for days. It's served me so well since day 1 that I can overlook it's pudge until an absolute monster of a display comes along I can afford.

Unfortunately my Panasonic TC-P55ST30 was taken out by lightning last week. After the insurance settlement is done I'll be in the market for a new TV. LG OLED is 100% out of the running due to price which just leaves me with LED LCD. Samsung is also out of the running. Everyone I've ever known who had a Samsung TV, including myself, has had to replace them due to premature failure. I have no idea what I'll end up with at this point, but it will likely be something below the $2000 price point. I would have been very happy to use my plasma for a few more years.

Unfortunately, OLED seems dead. Plasma owners might as well accept the order of things, which is LED with HDR and then hope for the best.

OLED is just starting to gain steam. The LG on display at my local best buy has everyone wanting it. It's gorgeous.

Time will tell however there are always people that will pay for the best technology.

That's not gonna happen I will never spend my hard earned on an inferior (read LCD) product ......................... I just pray my plasma panels will hold out until OLED flat panels become more affordable/reliable

I ended up with a Vizio P65-C1 following the demise of my Panasonic plasma and couldn't be happier. IMO the PQ is far superior to the Panny. It also doesn't hurt that the new display is 10" larger.

I agree totally
They put that curve in because they were too weak.

Unfortunately, OLED is not picking up any steam, it's way behind LED. If Sony and Samsung don't get in the game anytime soon, I'm afraid OLED will die on vine.
