You have to see what some of these guys are saying at avs now. They think that Sony is going to blow this and that studios will go neutral that are BD exclusive. I just do not understand this mentality. Everyone wants the format war to end, why would studios go neutral to only cause a confusion all over again. Warner landed the knockout blow, get over it. Universal can will just make Toshiba throw in the towel and end the fight officially. In a 12 round fight, right now BD has won the first 10 rounds. Universal is round 11 and Paramount is round 12.

Also, why does everything think Sony will blow it. Last time I checked Pioneer, Panasonic, Samsung, etc are all involved with Sony am I right or wrong? So all of these companies would have to blow it together.

I can't wait to read about one of these red guys who can't accept HDM and goes berserk. The story would go like this: wife complains that she used to have a laundry room but the fanatical husband installs one of these...

an IBM BladeCenter

in said laundry room along with

to keep the media server cool.

The story concludes with the wife asking what is Iron Mountain all about as she is fumbling for quarters to feed the laundromat.

I can believe these people over the ones who think digital downloads are going to be this great thing in the next year or two. I know people who still don't have access to broadband and are forced to use dial-up. If I download something over a gig or two in day, my DSL connection SLOWS down to less than 1mbps...

These people call themselves fans of HDM, or of films and yet I've heard many say that they intend on going back to DVD, or illegally downloading... and it makes me sick that someone would do either one rather than switching to Blu-ray.

So obviously, the choice for them was clear...so why NOT take the money if it was offered if their minds were made up anyway?!! Why not take it when the choice is - go Blu WITHOUT a payoff OR go Blu WITH a payoff????? Where's the downside for them? LOL Honestly...I don't blame them a BIT.
I totally agree with this point, the thing is that if you think about it Warners motivations for the choice they made were identical either there was money or not. If there was no money, then they obviously went exclusive for exactly the reasons they gave. But if money was involved, then there was equal monetary pressure from both sides meaning the choice was still about what Warner wanted to do that was best, instead of being without financial gain since that would have happened either way anyway.

If they got money, more power to them. Either way, as a fan of HD movies I appreciate what they did.
