"VOD is the future. It will completely destroy high def media, including Blu-Ray"

"I hate region-encoding. I hate incomplete Profiles. I hate that there is no web-interactivity. I hate the high prices of Blu-Ray players. I hate Sony."

Keep it coming red-ants.

What were those 5 stages of grief again??

I'm really sick and tired of them saying this download crap

Quote:
..Some analysts believe that while Blu-Ray may be winning the battle with HD DVD to be the next generation DVD format, neither will win the war, since future consumers will probably choose to download their movies and transport them on memory disk. "They know this is a dying business," said Berenberg Bank analyst Thomas Wissler ...

This is the only thing the HD DVD ppl can do now... pretend it never mattered in the first place and that downloads will take over.

I'm sorry, but that is a lot of hype and little money. They are not the money banks people make them out to be. In fact it is not appealing to J6P who does not want to use his computer to watch movies.
I for one hate the quality and think both downloads and Blu-ray can live happily side by side for many years!

I'm sick of the HD-DVD people insisting that Warner took a $500m payout.

"It must be true! Some guy heard it from some other guy!"

"Warner's own president of home video said they didn't. Are you accusing him of lying to his shareholders?"

All I know is I took more unnecessary, unwarranted grief on AVS for a long time until it became a chore just to browse, nevermind to post. It wasn't a fun forum to post in any longer, it turned into vicious threats, attacks, and unwarranted crap. Through all of this I'm still reading FUD on some forums. STILL. Not to mention I've seen some of the most insane rationalizations and reasons for what happened. So yeah...I'll admit that I'm taking some perverse delight in their misery today.

So for all of that, I have to relish this....knowing that they can no longer look at a list of releases and count on them actually streeting when the date says, knowing that the next piece of HD DVD news might be a production end date, knowing that they can look over at a list of blu ray movies and know that unless they fork over the money for another player that they can't buy them.

And knowing that they defended an inferior product to the end and lost. So while we do need as many from the red side as possible to win this thing overall, I really want to spend the next few days not rubbing it in but just relishing in all of this. I can read that Warner thread over and over and over.

I like this article in particular:

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show//1327

Getting Paramount's exclusive support cost HD-DVD $150 million, while getting Warner's support cost Blu-ray nothing, and they're a much more powerful studio in the hi-def wars.

You know.. I'm very frustrated with AVS about this.. I created a post about how I felt my day had been lagging and what not, and then boom! Post disappeared.. I had posted about how some people still had their Amazon 10% discount (I am not one of them) and poof, thread disappeared as well.

It's quite frustrating to see your threads blown away like that.

P.S. I'm neutral only because I bought the A3 for 99 back in November, otherwise strictly Blu-Ray with a 60GB PS3.

The biggest joy is watching the DUDsters spin.

Dailytech is just awesome, the DUD supporters there have their heads so far up their backsides it's absolutely jaw dropping the denial they can come out with. Many of them still think it's in the bag for DUD and all the studios will switch to it by 09.

It's absolute sheer forum hilarity of the first order. They are even reasoning that the EU is going to save DUD by forcing companies to release on it in europe. Right europe where DUD is getting beat by like 10 to 1 instead of 2 to 1.

You know what, blu-ray honestly doesn't need the rabid threat making lawsuit starting crazed DUD supporters that populate the web. Those people are a small and VERY loud minority anyway.

The people who were reasonable will buy blu-ray players and enjoy them, the average consumers will eventualy start to adopt HD as time goes on and TV's get cheaper and some day maybe blu-ray will oust dvd down the road. Once all the studios are on board and DUD is dropped into the gutter where it belongs for good.

I wouldn't waste a shred of time worrying about the fanatics and wether or not they will come over to blu-ray.

There isn't any real rhyme or reason as to why some of the threads there get deleted, other than to assume they've received some incentive for backing HD DVD. I know they've said that theory's further from the truth, however their repeated actions do force one to wonder. You know what they say about actions and words....

Same here. After taking so much grief at...well...just about everywhere but here, I agree. I can read the news over and over and relish it every time. Just hope the good news keep flowing.

You guy gotta read this article.
I love his comment.

2008 will mark the end of the format war. Consumers won't buy the dying HD-DVD format at any price. Those who say it will survive, much less thrive, do not understand technology. HD-DVD isn't even true hi-def. It isn't even 1080p. We must get back to business and make movies, not war."
Classic.
