Right now Sony has lost the Midwest, you can't carry America without it and you can't carry the Midwest without football. Ergo the first thing they need is an excellent Madden, then they need to redouble and triple there efforts here.
I doubt it's just football - it's all those "in your face" games that Americans are just obsessed with. FPS, sports, what not always dominated the American gaming scene for the most part, and since XBox360 is dominating in that area, so it's not surprising. I know Asian is not that high on that type of gaming, not sure about Europe, so it make sense for Americans to think Xbox360 is the best thing since sliced bread, while others just think it's "ok" (meaning not ground-breaking, etc.).

Only if you buy into the hype of Micro$haft.

From a gaming perspective most of the games are on both systems.

The only advantage that 360 has is Halo, and since it's the exact same thing with slightly upgraded graphics for each incarnation you'd have to be either extremely deluded or extremely stupid to keep buying into the 'gotta have it now or you're not Xbox Xtreme!!' Dorito sucking Mountain Dew guzzling Frat Boy stupidity that many of the 360 fans fall into, time and again.

Both systems are comparable, just one breaks down less and has a Blu-Ray player onbaord.

Which would give the PS3 the advantage to anyone who doesn't buy into commercials with songs in the key of Donnie Darko.
