Oh, baby. I was all about dinosaurs and JP back in the day. I was also that obnoxious know-it-all kid who would correct anyone who thought they knew about dinos. There weren't many "lies" or fabrications I can think of - only ones really being the scales in place of feathers, and the Veloci/Utah raptor thing. I was also, if I remember correctly, quick to point out that Raptor's claws weren't really positioned like that- they were more angled to the side. Most of the liberties were taken on Velociraptors, so that's where my poindexter brain would immediately correct people.

I think the other big one was that T-Rex eyesight was based on movement. I think it was later proven to not be true, at least entirely, and boy was I quick to point that out. I thought I was so cool, but looking back now, I was probably obnoxious as hell.

It's true, T-Rex had very good eyesight, from what I know anyway. I know the Jurassic Park movies are being inaccurate on purpose, but the eyesight thing is a complete error. Dr. Alan Grant should have been dead.

IIRC the dinosaurs that were cloned from DNA used the DNA of frogs to finish the DNA structure. This led to the dinosaurs depicted in the Jurassic Park movies and books to have some similarities to frogs. After all, frogs have that eyesight thing where they can only see what moves.

Of course, it is a far cry from reality, but these are fictional dinosaurs we're talking about here.

You know what... good point. Alan probably already figured this out as soon as he realized that the T-Rex had the same DNA as a frog. But yeah, the REAL T-Rex had better eyesight.

They're not even proper dinos. They have amphibian DNA, which makes them hybrids.

As Kylor has already said, stuff like the T-Rex's poor eyesight is a trait of certain frogs.

So is them being able to change gender.

That happened in the first Jurassic Park book, which goes into more details than the movie does. In the book, Alan pieces together the behavior of the dinosaurs to the frog DNA, and uses it to his advantage. It also goes into detail that they didn't want to breed dinosaurs, so they had them all be female, however it's frog DNA they implemented, and so in a single gender species, some of them used the frog DNA to become male. Essentially, life finding a way.

I highly recommend the first book if you haven't already read it. The second book is also good, but the first one's better IMO.

This was released when I was 20, so there wasn't anything about it that fooled me.

Bruh. Do you not know that T-Rex were covered in feathers? Of course it was a giant chicken. And they chirped likes birds rather than roaring.

This is not exactly what the OP meant, but I first watched JP when I was like 6 or 7 with a friend and he told me that after Timmy gets electrocuted, he sometimes says "three" and sometimes doesn't And I believed him

Yeah, I mean, I know some of the differences between the book and movie, like how Ian "dies" in the book, but survives in the movie. Stuff like that. Yeah, I will read the book at some point. It annoys me that there are not enough hours during the day to read.

Scientists actually recreated the sound of a T-Rex. It's neither a chirp or a roar. It's actually creepier.

When I was a kid, I believed we'd get a great Jurassic Park (or JP-like) game one day. Even Dino Crisis, while good and probably the best of them all, fell short. Now that genre seems dead. I doubt Capcom will revisit it. Resident Evil is much more popular.

Ian does survive in the books, it's explained away in the second book that stories went around of him dying to be fake and happened on more than one occasion in his life.

Basically this but it's Ian Malcom:

Yeah but that's only because of the success of the first movie. The second book came out after the first movie, if my memory serves me right. So it's basically retconned.
