So just finished watching Shogun's Samurai. Wow. I'm actually quite impressed how this turned out. It's for sure from the new 4K master and it looks much different from the older master in terms of colors, but man does it looks sharp. Encode is great

The film hold up really well, and even though I've seen this maybe 5 times before, I was still enthralled with the story and characters. The film flies by at a lightening speed and is truly one of the best Samurai films ever made.

Either way, fantastic film and hopefully we get more Samurai titles from AnimEigo.

That is disappointing to hear.

If it's off by the same amount throughout, I can at least attempt to correct it with the audio delay setting on my receiver. But it sounds like the sync varies from scene to scene?

Hopefully someone like Arrow or the new Radiance label gets it for the UK market. I almost ordered the Discotek BD, glad I didn't now.

I hate my life. I tried it on another Blu-ray player and there is no sync issue. I apologize for wasting everyone's time and will delete my other posts. This has NEVER happened to me before. Can someone explain to me why there would be a sync issue on one player and not another? I've watched hundreds of films on the one that has the sync issue, so this is a first.

Equipment problem

The first thing to do when you have an issue is try other equipment, and check the settings. Especially if it's something like audio sync.

So just to let you guys know. I screwed up. I was having issues with my equipment and I just didn't know. I really screwed up here. No audio sync issues and the release is now pretty much flawless. Sorry again.

Great! Hopefully you get it figured out. Can be tough to track down issues like this sometimes.

Brother, everyone makes mistakes sometimes.

I was surprised when I read your post about that problem because I hadn't noticed it, and I'm fairly sensitive to that type of audio issue. But before I said "I don't have a problem with mine" I wanted to double-check, and just didn't have the time yet. I have had that same issue on very rare occasions, and switching players alleviated the problem.

Don't be hard on yourself. When I read your posts yesterday I feared it would turn out to be equipment related and make you feel bad. Please don't, you were trying to report a potential issue early so others could benefit from the knowledge. You posted the correction straight away. No harm done except for the weird side-eye you now give your trusty player. As Bob said about himself, this has also happened to me. I even reported on it on the forums and the sync issue turned out to be entirely on my end. It's all good. The disc is good, the movie's fabulous, and that's what we're all here for.

I watched the Blu-ray. Really cool movie. I had seen this before on DVD years ago but really didn't remember much. They do throw a lot of characters and story at you, so pay attention especially at the beginning. The second half of the movie leans more towards action.

I thought the disc looked pretty good, although I would have preferred white instead of yellow subtitles. Also the subtitles are above and below the picture (in the black bars) which is not ideal for some projector users.

Special features are very light. The "historical notes" are just that, text to read across 12 slides you navigate. I would have preferred that as a booklet. You could safely read the historical notes before watching the movie, because the movie doesn't really follow the history accurately at all (it's not really meant to). Taking liberties would be an understatement.

For a little more information I took a picture of the liner notes from the DVD. It's only one page front and back, but there's a fair good bit of info for such a short essay. I'm marking them with spoiler just because they are larger images, but I think you can read this before watching the movie:

Thanks, now ordered from RightStuf.

How is your audio hooked up, do you use your TV speakers, a soundbar or dedicated Amplifier. If it's the exact same way and same type of connection on both blu-ray players, I'd maybe try updating the firmware on the problem player.

Just use the TV speakers. I changed the setting to PCM on my player and everything is fine now. Not sure why that needed to be done.

I haven't seen this in at least a decade. I never in a million years thought we would get this and Swords of Vengeance on BD.

It's been about 6 years since I watched my DVD of this. Today I watched the blu-ray and was reminded how much I enjoy this film. One of my favorite with Sonny Chiba and he is playing one of my favorite characters. I thought the blu-ray looked really nice and if you're a fan of period pieces this is highly recommended.
