I can't believe that it took so long for "The Searchers" to pop up on this thread. Not only the best Western ever made, one of the handsomest — and already on Blu-ray.

With "Unforgiven" also out and "How the West Was Won" in production for HD, I'm just waiting now for "Dances With Wolves" (theatrical cut, not the over-padded director's cut), "The Professionals" and the iconic "Ride the High Country." Then all the others.

Westerns are great because they have to be shot outdoors, and that brings out colors and fine details and vast canvases, all with an inherent moral dimension of right vs. wrong.

I just bought The Searchers for next to nothing and have yet to watch it. Sounds great!

I'd say The Quick and the Dead and El Dorado!

The Budd Boetticher/Randolph Scott westerns:

The Tall T
Decision At Sundown
Buchanan Rides Alone
Ride Lonesome
Comanche Station

Rights are held by Sony unfortunately who couldn't care less about releasing them (even on DVD although they possess restored masters).

I'm very surprised this one has not been been mentioned-- one of the very best... Shane.

I've got "The Searchers" and it is outstanding in Blu!

Others:
The Big Country
The Magnificent Seven
Liberty Valance
True Grit
Rio Grande
Fort Apache
She Wore A Yellow Ribbon
