Default Western Digital My Book VS Western Digital Elements

I'm planning to buy an external hard drive for my desktop PC and I just wanted to know what the difference is between these two external hard drives: -

Western Digital My Book Essential Edition 1 TB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive WDH1U10000N

Western Digital Elements 1 TB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive WDE1UBK10000N

I've read the details and description but doesn't really explain a whole lot. They're almost the same price. Which one is better?

I have a Book myself, love it so far, it's not 2 TB though. My guess is the design of the outward appearance but that's just me.

That's 1TB. Is that the same one you have? If so, how is it? Any problems?

No problems so far, nice and quiet and I love the black exterior, kind of like my PS3's.

Nice! I was leaning towards the My Book but when I saw the other one I wanted to research more about it.

Ive got both an 640GB Element and a 160GB My Book.

Overall?

...the My Book is nicer looking. But the Element is built like a tank. Feels like it will last forever. Kinda heavy though.

I also have a 500GB Passport. Hands down the best!

Western Digital made a huge mistake by not including a power on/off switch for their drives.

Their old models use to have one, but the new models do not. Meaning you have to basically unplug them to turn them off. Kind of ridiculous.

Hmm, this is a really tough choice. Passport has some really great reviews but max is 500GB so I guess I'm going to scratch that out. Still can't decide between My Book and Elements.

Since I don't have much space on my PC desk I think the Elements would be the proper choice. Yeah, I think I'm gonna go with Elements.

I have a 1Tb elements drive and a 500G mybook, I like them both but as another posters said the element is built like a tank and really is a high quality item! Im sure you will be happy either way!
