Western Digital My Book Pro Edition II - Door Stop

Well, I got my WD My Book Pro Edition II in today. 1 TB of glorious storage for my photos, music and whatever else. I hook it up and all is well. I see it, it works I can write to it and blah blah blah.

I decided to update the firmware to get the latest and greatest improvements. Oh BOY! Was that a mistake! I now have a DEAD 1 TB storage device. 340+ bux out the window. The firmware update failed midway and after that it pissed out and will no longer do anything. The inner ring stays lit and it detects it as some odd usb device.

Come to find out - this is a HUGE problem with these and the firmware. I am not sure why WD is putting things like this out. I have never had a problem with them but now I am kinda upset. I really wanted to use this thing, now its trashed.

Looks like I get to return this and get another one and waste time waiting for all of it to happen. Lovely!

Funny enough, there is NOTHING on WD's website telling me anything about this issue, yet it's all over the net.
