What about Euros? Are you all using those yet? I thought the Euro and the dollar were pretty close.

Those prices are just sad. You all are getting gouged!

If you could just wait a little longer, I think you'll be happier in the end, but that's your call.

The euro is about 1.30 dollars... The point is, in the UK you've (still) got the pound sterling or GBP... Which is about ~1.5 Euros (£1 = €1.48) or ~2 Dollars (£1 = $1.93)!

And yes we are getting ripped off. We are all here in Europe. We are having later launches, higher prices... And we are sick of it.

The PS3 for example:
Japan: November 11, 2006 @ Y47,600 ($411.02 or €314.18 or £212.78) and 'open price'
USA: November 17, 2006 @ $499 (€381.44 or £258.34) and $599 (€457.87 or 310.11)
Europe: March 2007 @ €499 ($652.79 or £337.96) and €599 ($783.62 or £405.69)
UK: March 2007 @ ??? and £425 ($820.92 or €627.52)

Do they use gold in those consoles? Is that why they launch so late and are so expensive?

These price differences shed a completely different light on the case, now isn't it...

PS: These prices are accurate and verified on the 25th or november '06

It's time for you all to act on that anger. That's really out of control.

Does this make sense in any way though, I mean is our minimum wage substantially higher than the US's?. Our minimum wage is £5.05 ($9.16), how much is the US minimum wage?...does it equate?..

Plus by the time we are finally allowed a unit, the companies have earned back their initial expenditure anyway, so it's not like we're having to pay extra to pay back initial costs.

What's the deal? Should there be a connection..? It doesn't have to do with anything (IMO)! Nor with GDP, PPP, HDI, distance...

In the United States, the States individually can choose the minimum wage... From none to $10.33 (or £5.34) per hour...

I just thought that maybe it was fair in some unfathomable way that my tiny brain couldn't comprehend, like, everyone has to work X amount of hours to get one so as to keep it's tangible worth the same in each country???.

To Mr. Marvin,
Befriend a person or two that can get you a US version of the PS3. Ship it to the UK along with some titles. The reason I say import the PS3 is simply this : for the price you were supposed to pay for the Toshiba, you could've had bought TWO Toshibas in the US. Not that they are making any more of the first gen players anyway.

Once the UK version of the PS3 comes out, get that one too to play your Region B BD titles. Then you're all set. Too bad about Region C though.

Maybe a Stateside trip is in order, just in case you're paranoid about third-party PS3 dealers? Could be fun.

And to be honest I couldn't afford to pay that and was desperate to have 1080p in whatever form I could get it the end.
Does the Toshiba HD-E1 player you got do 1080p?

Yup, but the states can override the law with their own minimum wage.

Could be a plan. I've been reading up about the problems people are having with the HD-DVD's too and I'm just off to cancel my pre-order.

I got into HDDVD for $400 so I couldn't complain, until I got the player home and it started buggin out on me. Now I wished I had just waited and got the 360 HDDVD add on only (which I ended up buying too) because it runs circles around the A1 and is half the price. But hey I got a great upconverting player now in the A1 that happens to play HDDVD's with a certain amount of forewarning mind you

HDDVD IMO is worth it, if you have an xbox360...otherwise, just put your ducks into Blu Ray.

Catastrophe averted, the HD-DVD is cancelled, and I must learn some patience, it's a virtue apparently.
I'm waiting for the Panasonic now, unless anyone can tell me a good reason not to?...

Thanks to everyone for the great advice.
