If the specs are better than that of the VS release, I'll gladly sell on my VS release and get this instead. Hopefully Imprint don't take too long to announce everything for the release.

Would you wait to actually see the release first or simply sell it with the hopes that you prefer it to VS?

If the listed specs are better than VS, I'll order it and then wait to see which is better and then sell on which I feel is the lesser of the two.

Isn't Imprint a partner label now? Chances are it's the same scan and maybe even the same encode.

That iconic art looks a lot better without the really chatty tag line on top of it, but looking at original posters it seems like it was part of the design. Still looks much nicer without it.

The commissioned VS art is pretty pedestrian but at least it's somewhat sober. It really wasn't worth all the hassle it ended up causing.

No, Umbrella is a Partner Label. The other one of the two big Upside Down labels.

In case if anyone is wondering if this will be the same encode/restoration work as the VS disc, The Imprint 4k disc of Convoy is literally the Studio Canal disc with their own artwork pressed on it. The Convoy 4k disc literally starts up with "United Kingdom" or "France" for the menu, then has the Studio Canal menu on disc. No "Australia" option on the region selection for the Australian label!

So, there is a possibility that Imprint will be using the same disc as VS.

Hoping for more extras, which is pretty much the reason to get these Imprint releases these days. There was an independent making of documentary that was in production a year or two ago. Wonder if that might be ready to include. https://www.facebook.com/wwiifairytale/

I agree on the cover art being better on the Imprint.

Sure the VS contains the original poster art, but it looks bizarre with the huge text tagline, and then the tiny title image all squeezed onto the cover. They should've re-aligned the artwork for the case by making the text tagline smaller, and the title image larger, so you still get the original artwork, tagline and all, but looks more pleasing on a small case.

The Imprint is more striking since the title image is huge and eye-catching. Sure you miss the tagline, but that's the least of the issue with the poster.

I’ll be grabbing this just for the artwork but I’m fairly confident there’ll be some exclusive extras as well

I wouldn't bet a cent on it being anything other than the VS 4K disc in Imprint's packaging. The only thing to speculate on is whether Imprint will have additional/different extras on the BD.

Yeah, Imprint does not do any type of restorations or anything, they simply use what's provided to them. All they really do is fund new interviews for new special features. For Convoy's new 4k release, they used the Studio Canal disc, but Mike Siegel, the Peckinpah biographer, supplied all of the features to Imprint, including the newly unearthed extended cut. So, I think Imprint licensed the Studio Canal restoration in exchange for the new features, yet Studio Canal did not pick up the extended cut from Imprint (its an entire disc itself), leaving it as an exclusive for the Imprint release.

I remember Shout and Arrow collaborating on To Live And Die In LA a few years back. Arrow did the restoration, while Shout funded and made all of the new special features, then they licensed each others work to each other for their individual releases.

Its unknown at this point who funded the features on the VS disc, as I'm really interested in all of them. Imprint could have funded them while VS did the restoration. If that's the case, they will be identical releases.

They have done the restorations on their other 4K releases:

Neverending Story: NEW Dolby Vision presentation of the 94-minute Theatrical Cut on 4K UHD, restored from the original 35mm negative by Imprint Films

A Bridge Too Far: NEW Dolby Vision presentation on 4K UHD, restored from the original 35mm negative by Imprint Films

Priscilla: NEW Dolby Vision presentation on 4K UHD, restored from the original 35mm negative by Imprint Films

So it is possible their 4K disc will be different entirely from VS!

But I do have the VS disc on pre-order and fully expect that will be the best presentation. If Imprint get any sort of extended cut I would be shocked but thrilled.

^Of course the 3 films I didn't by from Imprint on that slate are the ones they did their own restorations on! I didn't realize they are doing their own restorations now! I was all about Convoy when those four were announced. But thanks for bringing that to my attention. I am interested in A Bridge Too Far, and haven't read if Imprint did a good job on their restoration.

That being said, the extended ending of The Keep is available on youtube, as well as other video breakdowns of shots from trailers, tv spots, and set photos that didn't make it in the final film.

So when do you think they'll announce the extras for this? I already purchased the VS version, so I selfishly want this version to contain no additional extras so I can validate my purchase.

It doesn't exist. The SFX guy died during post production too which didn't help.

It can`t be a problem. For example Arrow released Workprint for Hellraiser 4: Bloodline with scenes without SFX. So it`s not a problem.

They should add an English subtitle (non HOH), I had troubles understanding some of the dialogues on the vinegar syndrome and don't like a HOH subtitle telling me each time Tangerine Dream kicks in.

Comments about the cover art are well taken. When VS first showed their art, I knew that would not fly. Couldn't wait for the disc, but made this for the keepcase...
