They were horrible. Recently Sony titles are getting far, far better reviews. And consider all those raves for Paramount titles represent Sony authoring too (which is why they are MPEG-2).

I agree, but catalog is a long term issue. And for format establishment it is new releases that are very important. And for that you can look at the box office.

This weekend

Top HD DVD exclusive: #14 "The Queen"
Nada from Universal

This year

Top four are BD exclusives.
Top Universal: #13 "The Break-up"
Only 2 so far in the top 25.

It hasn't been a good year for Universal. They better have something big for Xmas.

Gary

Out of curiosity, how much is PS/2 backwards compatibility important? Is that a major big deal in the gaming community?

i know for me it was huge from the ps1 to ps2. obviously there are still killer titles coming out for the ps2 since they have been in development. for me, it would be important that they could be played on the next gen console.

Hope you can wait though for their software emulator next year (which intends to replace the crappier EE+GS chip).

The Backward Compatibility was really important for me, I still have yet to finish Final Fantasy 12 and I still haven't sunk my teeth into Dragon Quest 8.

Count me in!

I got mine from walmart at 12:04 am on launch. And Ive been buying up BD's ever since starting with Xmen3, obviously ricky bobby, kingdom of heaven, black hawk down, tears of the sun, terminator 2 and gone in 60 secs. My friend (a 360 owner) who was going to get the hddvd addon is now saving for a PS3

Rock on

I got my 60GB from Wal-Mart. I now have 5 games and 61 Blu-ray titles (making a piss poor attempt at catching ProvenFlipper).

backwards compatibility is extremely important to me as I still play my classic PS2 games(onimusha, twisted metal, RE4, god of war, sly cooper etc). Not many PS1 games but still good.

LOL... there are a few people in here that are ahead of me. If it weren't for me feeling inclined to get really nice presesnts for everyone this year, I would have more.

Back on topic. I have a 20gb model, upgraded to 100gb. 3 games.

I own a PS3, 2 PS3 games (getting RE4 for Xmas) and soon to be a whopping 3 movies!

I'm very picky when it comes to movies, so I don't own a ton, but when I watch them I want the best. I don't think I would have gotten a PS3 if it wasn't for Blu-ray.

I got a PS3 60 GB from the local EB. Three games Resistance, Ridge Racer and Tony Hawk (I've always been a sucker for the THPS titles). Movies: Talladega and at least three titles coming as christmas presents.

This machine is amazing.
