I would chip in to buy that kid a Xbox360.

His parents are turds for playing with him like that.

Of course,... that would break my no more of my money goes to M$ ever vow but it would be worth it.

I suppose I would get something refurbished so maybe M$ wouldn't get the dough afterall.

Nah, not at all. I did something very simliar when I was a kid (snooping, that is) and my parents did something similar by putting an unwanted gift in the box.

I learned a lesson, and still got my way cool gift--whatever it was. I don't hate my parents, don't think any less of them for it, and it took be down one or two well deserved pegs. Plus, it's a great story that we all laugh about now when we get together.

Funny how I remember the lesson, and not the gift

I wouldn't. I might chip in to buy him a PS3 though if he didn't get the 360.

Why not? They aren't that expensive. Heck I got my kid a 1500$ present one year for his birthday, what is a 300$ Xbox compared to that?

I am with you on this one; however, I don't think it was the case with this family. The kid was probably used to getting clothes and stuff he needed, but very little because they can't really afford it. But that was just wrong. I feel for that kid. Imagine the excitement he was feeling up until that point. He was so happy and shocked that he actually got one. Those parents IMHO are just horrible. They knew exactly what they were doing.

My parents kind of did that to me with the NES. They bought me all these toys but knew that I wanted an NES. When I was finished opening everything I started to cry because I didn't get the NES (spoiled me). Anyway, they told me to go downstairs and get some ice tea mix, so I did and there was the NES hooked up and ready to play. I'll never forget that. I think I was 7.

The kid took a sneak peak at his presents when the parents were out and found out he was getting an xbox 360. So they decided to teach him a lesson and take out the console from the box and put in some clothes in its place, he later receives it according to the description.

It doesnt hurt to read the description from time to time.
