there are good aspects I just can't stand the movie. I've tried very hard but every time there are too many things that are negatives for me to possibly say I like the movie or want to own it (unless my only option is a 6 BD set, of course).

I disagree. But this is neither the time or place for a debate.

/sigh

Next thing you'll tell me that he'll re-do EPIV and make Chewbaca shoot first.

It'll probably be 2-3 years until he considers bringing it out, then another 2-3 to get it up to date for release! DVD sales must still be good... he's so greedy!

Wouldn't you be if you had a cash cow as big as Star Wars??

I am experiencing Star Wars burn out. I am so over the entire saga. Thank goodness it takes place in a galaxy far, far away. Too bad it's just not far enough for me. The final straw that broke the Banthas back was when Family Guy did its Star Wars episode. Wasn't Robot Chicken enough?

As for Indy, I still love these films as they remain fresh and exciting because they have not been shoved down our throats the way Star Wars has.

The only way I will buy SW on BD is if they feature extended director's cuts or alternate endings (doh!).

In the mean time, I would rather have numerous other movies come to blu-ray first, such as the Jurassic Park trilogy and maybe Alien, Alien 2 and Alien Resurrection. (A3 - the turd Alien movie - was just that. They can keep it).

he's freaked out about new formats......his day 1 star wars release with laser disc made him nervous. considering that format died hard and fast and he got hosed.

Maybe in two years Fox will finally get off their $35 a movie kick with blu ray. I am not going to pay $200 bucks to own 3 good movies and 3 newer movies. There is a reason the star trek original series isn't selling on HD, no one wants to pay the $180 Paramount is foolish enough to ask for. The 6 pack could only be marketable, imho, at about $100 to $125 .

I think it will be two years or more before we see the catalog Star Wars or Indy Jones on BD. However, I DO predict that the first BD movie from these series will be the newly released Indiana Jones movie coming out in May. I wouldn't be surprised if that ends up on BD within a year.

hey maybe it's gonna take so long because he wants to make a new blu-ray edition. ugh.
I prefer the newer enhanced versions personally. other than Greedo shooting first I find them to be superior looking in every way shape and form.

I had sold most of my DVDs but held on to certain titles like the Disney classics and Star Wars. But this thread convinced me to seek out the best price on the original Indiana Jones four-disc box set. It can be had for just $23.11 through Deep Discount DVD. At just $7.70 for each movie, plus an extra bonus disc, it's a steal. The re-releases will contain more supplements on each disc so perhaps compression may take its toll on the films themselves. I figured I will need to revisit Indiana Jones before the fourth and likely final installment is released and we may need to wait awhile before the films make it to Blu-ray.

it was already stated in an article on the main page around CES earlier this year that indy 4 was already being prepped for release on bluray later this year. Paramount is releasing the first 3 soon as special editions. The possibility of the first 3 coming along side the 4th is better than everyone thinks. I expect all 4 to be released along side each other this Holiday Season. This will be the major release(s) for this year.

Also, read thedigitalbits.com, Bill states that there are some very interesting titles coming out in Q1. Not sure what these could be nor am I going to speculate on this. However, lets look at the bigger picture. We are going to have some incredible movies coming out this fall:

Dark Knight
Iron Man
Hulk 2
Hellboy 2
Get Smart
Narnia 2
Wall-E
Hancock
Dont mess with the Zohan
Step Brothers
Wanted
The Happening
plus others not listed

and remember that there is a long list of catalog titles from all the studios. I wouldnt be very upset if we didnt see star wars this year. I say let them take as much time as possible to give all the star war films the proper transfers that will make them demo material. I suspect that next year will be the year of LOTR and then 2010 we get the star wars franchise. Just my thoughts

Lol maybe Paramount should have did the same thing HBO did with The Sopranos and release half seasons for $90-130

It's been a few years since I read it, but I'm pretty sure I read that all the work for digital Episode 1 Yoda is already done and has been for a while.

I was expecting it in the 30th anniversary set which never materialized because Lucas has over-saturated the market with Star Wars on DVD.

I can see Indiana Jones coming before the 2 years, only cause there is a new one being released. As far as Star Wars, I agree with all of you that you won't see that within 2 years, and will probably be around 5.

He wants the Blu-ray install base to be large, and that makes business sense. The only reason we so Warner release some of their "classic" movies on HD DVD is because they were compensated. Lucas waited a while to release his movies on DVD, and this just follows the established pattern.

I have no interest in seeing Star Wars on Blu-ray unless it's the Original Trilogy.
