Default Has Lucas ditched Star Wars in 3-D?

From the NPR interview he gave it sure sounds like it. Might be the reason that all six titles have turned up in the blu ray newly listed section.

My guess is he wants more money. He wants to release them first in 2D Blu-Ray in 2011 and a 3D release down the line.

I wish all directors would give up on 3D.

oh I already looked there....I thought he meant they were up for pre-order. Its cool to see them all listed. I want my OOT, though. Lucas can keep the prequels.

That is what I am thinking. Get us to buy them first in 2-D and then release the 3-D versions.

That interview was great! I just want George to give up the Clone Wars cartoon garbage and either a) make more movies, or b) get the one's he's made out on Blu-ray. I'll be more than happy to buy the Star Wars saga twice on Blu. I don't have a big enough tv for the 3D to work yet. And I, personally, enjoy the 3D how it is now. To me, it looks like you're looking into a window and seeing stuff going on. Pretty cool stuff! (sorry, I'm a newbie to all this ha!)

Sweet. I haven't bought them on regular dvd because I'm waiting for the blu rays. Doesn't really matter, though, they're on Spike enough that I don't miss them.

He very likely finds the fake 3D process unsatisfactory. He's been playing with it since 2006

sounds to me like he wants the infrastructure there. why would he release his babies on a format that wont instantly have huge success? not enough people have blu-ray players and obviously he doesn't know how well 3d will be adopted.

3D conversions if done right can be amazing. The Nightmare Before Chirstmas was shot in 2D and was beautifully converted to 3D. The upcoming Alice in Wonderland remake by Tim Burton is also shot in 2D and then converted. I find its results not as good as something shot in 3D but it does work. However it only works if alot of time and money is put into it. Which is why players that convert 2D Blu-Rays to 3D on the fly I believe are a bad idea and will have shitty results. If done right Star Wars can be converted the same way as previous conversions and look great

Lucas has become what he originally despised (corporate mogul). He needs to just release the damned blu-rays, then whenever the 3D shit comes about, prepare to release them again.

... Enough already.
