Finally having an exclusive franchise title like MGS4 should definitely boost sales big time. I think in combo with Blu-ray becoming bigger and bigger, sales of PS3s should at least double this summer.

If the reviews stay on track as they have been so far, it could sell a ton of PS3's.

When you hear things like, and I'm paraphrasing, 'the best game produced for the last decade and possibly for the next decade' you tend to think 'hmmm... maybe I need a piece of that?'

I've seen a couple/few early reviews now that have proclaimed it the best game ever made, etc. That's a big deal. VERY BIG DEAL. These are from very huge reputable gaming sites that have been historically known to favor 360 over PS3 even. That makes it even bigger.

So, yes, it could move a whole helluva lot of consoles.

Are you serious or joking?, because if 7 million units were to sell that would be so amazing and really shut the 360 fanboys up. Then motorstorm 2, killzone 2, resistance 2, Home, and more!

As long as Sony gets enough Bundle systems out there. They should realize that the MGS bundle will not only sell for being a MGS bundle, but the re-release of the 80gb with backwards compat. Many have been waiting for this to happen. Sony cannot really afford to miss yet another oppertunity.

I hope Sony is working their @$$ off to manufacture tones of PS3 units that are ready to ship for MGS4 release.

If this don't work, they can try to bring back the 60gig, with lower-cost. Perhaps this time bundle it with Resistance 2, Killzone 2, FFXIII, VersusXIII, any one of them will do. That's alot of opportunity for Sony.

I dont think they need to bring the 60 back, but more bundles might be what they need to help people deal with the higher price point. It is kind of sad how the best system needs to resort to bundles to sale. Yes the Wii comes with a game, but most people dont care, they just want their Wii.

Shouldn't you be saying it's sad the system that sells best this gen are either not of next gen quality, or comes with RROD.

They just need more bundle options with top AAA, highly rated, games. Period.

Was the disappointment of the year when I got my PS3 and it didn't even come with ONE game, any game, to play when I took it out of the box. Instead I get 'Talledega Nights'... Wow. Thrilling.

One of the stupidest things Sony has done with the PS3 is allow units to be sold without a game included in the box. Seriously stupid on a grand scale. Well, almost as stupid as not including an HDMI cable... *slaps forehead*

I still think the Wii will die down in popularity and I cannot knock the games on the 360, only the hardware.

I don't think it is a bundle issue. It is great service to your consumer to offer a game, but historically, systems are not typically sold with games. It is normally later in the life cycle that games get bundled in. Or when they are trying to play catch up in sales. The HDMI thing is just stupid too if you ask me. At least ship the PS3 with Component cables, come on now Sony.

Aren't Nintendo's well known to be sold with a game included?

I could be wrong, but I believe the Wii is the first system to Launch with a pack in game (if you consider Wii Sports a game) in a long time. You may remember the popular NES Super Mario Bro Bundle, but the NES did not launch with the game. Other then that, the original Game Boy coming with Tetris may have been the other system to Launch with a game. I don't remember if that system Launched with Tetris or if that was a later bundle. I was young.

MGS4 will sell better than any other MGS game. Overall, I'd guess at least 8M copies. Assuming that the MGS4 bundle is the only 80G bundle available from now until Christmas, I'd guess that you'll see nearly 2M units sold in that time.

As to the GTAIV argument--the issue is that GTAIV was not exclusive to the PS3. 360 owners had no incentive to buy a PS3 for GTAIV, but they have the incentive to do that for MGS4.

Personally, I'm selling my 40GB to my friend and buying the MGS4 bundle.
