If you watch one of the special features, not sure which one, on the Blu...you'll hear Sly talk about how there is no directors cut. The version that was released was essentially the directors cut because everything he wanted to keep in the film, they kept. Maybe he was just bs-ing? I dont' know, but that's what he said. But man, if there's a directors cut, what the hell else could be there? We pretty much see everything.

He aslo said on one of the talk shows that he would release his own cut. All I know is, if Rambo drops below $10, I am buying. I won't feel too bad if I must double-dip at that point.

You should just grab it now, its a great BD. You never know how long you might have to wait, and they might cut scenes out, not just add stuff.

Reading your post and I remember that also, Leno I think, and he said it would be called John Rambo. Hell, I got Rambo the day it came out so I imagine i'll get this day 1 also.

I think it was Letterman. I remember watching it and he did say he wanted to put out a DC and donate all of his share to the Burma cause.

Rambo is one of my favorite blus btw...just an awesome movie.

I would imagine that if a director's-type cut is forthcoming, we won't see it until Rambo 5's release is pending. Regardless, I don't really feel like the violence in Rambo is neutered or stilted at all in its current form, so for a Director's Cut, I would probably be more curious to see of Sly takes a different approach with some of the expository material we see closer to the top of the film, or something along those lines.

I have no idea whether there will be a DC or not. I can however tell you that just after the film came out I got my hands on a workprint that actually had the title John Rambo on it instead of Rambo. There was no difference between that workprint and the theatrical version except the title. So who knows maybe there is more stuff to see but I can guarantee you the version of John Rambo I saw was no different.

For those who own the BR, are there any promising deleted scenes they might add back in? If not it could be the dc was just some journalists wet dream.

No smoke grenade when the women are being taken advantage of on stage?

Most of that smoke looked digitally added.

He takes a 60. cal on the back of a Hummer and rips through the guy in the driver's seat. If that's not brutal then I don't know what is.

I'd watch First Blood (1) then (Rambo (4) and skip 2 and 3. Unless of course, you enjoy greased-up, muscle-bound cheesy action.

I saw the same thing and heard the same thing. Sly did say that what we have seen is it. But a Directors Cut? What else is there?

The first one doesn't have much gore if any; blood there is but not an exorbinant amount. Rambo (4) certainly has gore. I even cringe at some of it.

Those are the only films in the series I liked. The Part Two was somewhat interesting to see where the character went after the first but I had a hard time watching III, pretty useless save for some good action.

The first is a classic and the fourth is a really good cap to a series and a character (though now it may not be a closer).
