Default Rambo Director's Cut

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/36834

Looks like there will be a Director's Cut of Rambo, with the original "John Rambo" title, coming out later this year, if Stallone has anything to say about it. Cue the double dip complaints

hahaha. i was watching leno last night and stallone was the first guest.

yeah, stallone definitely said something along the lines of, "i hope this doesnt bash lionsgate, but were actually making a directors cut to be released later this year. like an extended cut with deleted scenes and stuff"

haha. ill bet stallone is gonna get some beef for announcing that on the near eve of the rambo release.

apparently all of the money for the directors cut is going to help the people and country that the film is shot in. cant remember the name. B something

EDIT: ha, i just clicked on the link and realized its the exact same place and stuff i saw it. eh, oh well. over anxious

Burma I'm surprised this didn't get more replies. Usually there's outrage when a director's cut comes out later, and ESPECIALLY when one is announced (kinda) before the theatrical version is even released.

IMO, im not much of a fan of the Director Cuts. I know that at least in the movie "Bad Santa" the directors cut took out some of the best parts of the movie, and there was no way to view these scenes after the fact. Since then, i refuse to buy Director Cuts since it seems they take scenes out.... Which i would have though it would be the opposite with a "Director's Cut"..

Is that Badder Santa or a different cut you're talking about? I've seen the theatrical and the "badder" cut, if I remember right, the director's cut is separate and just called "Director's Cut," right? What scenes were left out? I love that movie! Most of the time, from my experience, director's cuts don't take out scenes or add them in. It's usually 99% extensions of existing scenes.

It's too bad Stallone had such a dry run for such a long time. When he makes a good movie, it's usually a pretty damn good movie.

Yes, thats right, there was Bad Santa, Badder Santa, and Director's Cut. Now in Bad Santa and Badder Santa, there are a few scenes and parts of scenes that are present, that are not in the Directors Cut that I noticed immediately. Ill do this off the top of my head what is not in the Directors Cut. My favorite scene for one, where they show him behind the bar making drinks, then you come to find its not even his bar and gets chased out... That scene is not there, also, they cut out the part where he is talking to his midget friend and they are at the bar taking shots celebrating their successfull job well done and the Santa wants teh midget to take another shot with him and he goes, "you drink like shit!" and the midget goes, "yea, i weigh 95 lbs you d*ck" hahahah there are a few more that i cant remember off the top of my head. I know another difference is when he gets contacted for the next job and he attacks his alarm clock is different.... Dont get me wrong, some of these are subtle differences, but the parts that they removed, helped to make the movie flow better in my opinion...

I agree, what did you think about the Donnie Darko Directors cut? They kind of did the opposite but bot in a good way

Basically they just took the 16 or so deleted scenes and shoved them in there, I remember when I first got it I hated it and was glad I had both copies of the DVD

"The obvious changes are as follows: Pretty much all deleted and extended scenes have been reintegrated into the film. Also, some of Donnie's visions have been recut with better articulated editing and visual effects including a "Requium for a Dream"-style dialating eyeball that reacurrs several times. Likewise, our final trip through the wormhole is almost completely redone with a video-screen motif and a liquid tunnel effect replacing the "movie in rewind" sequence of the original. The video-monitor look of this sequence for some reason seemed to signal to me a more sinister involvement by the "FAA" guys than I had previously thought."
(Aint it Cool)

Thought I would revisit after seeing your Avatar, makes me wanna go home and watch it, maybe I will

Ah I'll get the upcoming one. DC may be a let down..but you never know. Rambo was short so maybe there will be some longer scenes.

Default Rambo (2008) Director's Cut?

I remember about a year ago there were reports that Sly had put together a director's cut of Rambo...but I haven't heard anything since. Anyone know if it has been permanently shelved? I put off buying the movie so I wouldn't have to double dip. Thanks.

Somebody on the inside of releases and editing (or something) was answering questions on this forum a while back. I asked him about this and he said "have faith". I can't seem to find that thread though.

I put off buying it as well but it is SUPER tempting with the low price and awesome PQ/AQ. Plus it is just a really good movie IMO.
