If I wanted to nitpick I'd probably bring up something about the moisture content in the air and why it didn't have an impact, but instead I'll say that this flick was pretty good, I would certainly upgrade my DVD of Signs to the Blu-ray.

Agreed. I think Maddox's take on Signs is hilarious (http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=signs) but the alien stuff was all the sub plot anyway. The movie is still excellent and as usual Newton Howard's score is brilliant, like all the other Shyamalan flicks he's done.
Absolutely! This film wasn't about aliens or some twist ending, same with all of M. Night's other movies. If you're watching them just for the twists you're kind of overlooking the entire point of the story. I know a lot of people complained about the twist in The Village too and that just bugged me because it wasn't even about the twist or trying to shock the audience.

As for the scores... James Newton Howard really knows how to press the magic button for M. Night Shyamalan's movies. I think the only one I don't have is The Sixth Sense, which I'll have to pick up. But Unbreakable, Signs, The Village, Lady In The Water and now (probably) The Happening are all excelent.

Again, this scene was what "saved" Mel Gibsons faith in God. It was the premise of the movie.

Remember when his wife died she said "merrill swing away" (which happened years earlier). They specifically talked about whether she knew what she was talking about or if her "neurons were just firing".

BTW, great movie and the SD DVD sucks (black level way off). I will be upgrading also.

I know people who were disappointed with this movie, but I really liked it. I might have to pick this one up.

Dude. Merrill Hess has 5 Minor League homerun records including 508ft smash in one park. Alien or not, I wouldn' want him taking a swing at me.

Also, little known facts about Merrill Hess. He has a thing for blind girls and can play a mean guitar.

I'm definitely jealous. It's probably the title I'm anticipating the most at the moment. I recorded it off an HD channel the other night but have been trying to hold off watching it with the blu-ray just around the corner. I think it was on one of the HD channels that frequently distort the aspect ratio though so that has also been making it easier to hold off on it.

I got rid of the dvd copy some time ago in anticipation of the upgrade. Its one of those movies I have to watch alone. The wife and kids get freaked out from it.

Also has one of the worst spots for a layer change and suffers from massive macroblocking. The only upside is that the Dolby EX track actually sounded pretty decent.

If you like the movie this is a must buy. If you a sound fanatic the cellar scene is one of the cooler show of moments to just turn it up.

Actually, I would accept 16-Bit audio on Transformers. I'll ask this again since you just seem to not be understanding: CAN YOU HEAR A DIFFERENCE? There are tons of professionals that will even tell you, on home theater equipment, you WILL NOT be able to tell the difference between 16 and 24-Bit audio tracks. Importing has nothing to do with that.

And also, why did you create a new thread for Signs when you're even posting in this one?

Tighter bass and background score sounded more pronounced. The differences were minuscule but still makes a difference.

Nice. With all the details in the dark for Signs, it'll be cool to see it in as much detail as possible.

I'm not one of the haters, though I thought the film had...issues, they were always of the "Refrigeratoir" type. While I was watching, it was all catch-in-the-throat-NO!
