I got "Signs" on Blu-ray + Impressions. - Blu-ray Forum

I think I might be first here. I bought it off eBay with a bunch of discs and got them today and suprise, I thought it was a pre-order.

1080p Picture and English 5.1 Uncompressed (48 Khz/24 bit) sound.

#1 It is gorgeous. OMG. It was on DVD but here it is just looks jaw-dropping. Not too much of the grain in the dark that so many of us complain about.

#2 The sound. I have all of Nights movies. And all of the early ones have had DTS, but Signs never did and it has some very bassy parts. I always thought DTS was cleaner and bassier than 5.1 Dolby. The Aliens running on the roof now goes right around the room. You can almost hear each corn stalk shake in the wind.

#3 I know some hater's flat out hate this movie. But it has remained my favorite with Unbreakable a close second so I may be biased despite the "What if it rained" question that so many ask when you defend this movie. Once again Blu-Ray took a already great movie and made it better.

If you like the movie this is a must buy. If you a sound fanatic the cellar scene is one of the cooler show of moments to just turn it up.

Sweet! I love this movie. I think one of the scarest parts of any movie is when he grabs the flashlight and goes into the corn field every hair on my body was standing up. I can't wait to hear that uncompressed.

I'm sure any owner of the SD DVD would agree it wasn't very good quality. I like this movie and planned to pick it up in hopes of better quality which you definitely are giving me that feedback. I'll wait for a few others but I think I've read on other forums that this was indeed the case.

For the haters who say "what if it rained", I say for beings not of this world how would they know what is poison to them? It was bacteria on War of the Worlds. I don't see the big deal, it's an awesome movie.

I completely agree. People will find anything to nitpick about, it's pathetic. Plus, in the movie, the aliens obviously had had some sort of encounter with water because midway through the movie, Ray Reddy foreshadows the twist by saying something like "some people are going near lakes and large bodies of water...I don't think they like water."

But anyway, this is one of my favorite movies of all time and judging by what I've read on here it looks like the PQ will be well worth the purchase.

Definitely picking it up on the 3rd along with There Will Be Blood.

well no i understand it being able to happen i guess it just felt very lackluster

i will give this another watch eventually. I just remember being disappointed when i did see it at the theater

Agreed. I think Maddox's take on Signs is hilarious (http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=signs) but the alien stuff was all the sub plot anyway. The movie is still excellent and as usual Newton Howard's score is brilliant, like all the other Shyamalan flicks he's done.

Hitting a violent threat with a blunt object always seems like a good idea to me, I don't see the cause for issue there.

As some know I just moved to Vancouver, WA for my job. My girlfriend and 2 kids are still in MN until June 9th. She has my camera.

When I came out here i brought a TV, my PS3, and my blu-ray, a few DVD's, and my clothes. No camera, she has it, so no, no pics.
