But i digress, i hope sony brings out something similar, 1080p is where its at.
I have to agree with that. I've owned my Wii since launch day and I can honestly say that aside from the novelty of the controller, there really isn't much to it. It's fun and all but the games are really not that much different than what was on the Gamecube.

IMO, I think most of the reason why the Wii has done so well this past couple of months is due to the hype from people who haven't even played it.

It's kind of funny how people I know and have met talk about how much the PS3 sucks and the Wii rocks when they've never even compared both back to back.

Yep. And its these same people who will end up buying a PS3 down the line and talking about how its got the best exclusives and how blu-ray rocks. No biggie, people like to learn the hard way, thats their deal =)

Well there are people like us who research technologies sincerely and root for the best one and there are those who are carried along on the back of the latest fad or short-lived craze.

Yep. Anyone with common sense knows that the PS3 is a top tier device and has literally outsold the ps1 and ps2 in the same time frame so far, of which, BOTH of those sold over 100 million systems a piece. I have no doubts the PS3 will take it home again, X-Mas 07 is going to be a madhouse of HDTV + PS3 buying (HD movies, HD games, HD web browser, HD Linux box, HD Picture viewer all in one!).

The Wii's hype is finally dieing down.

The only reason it's still selling out, is because people who buy Wiis probably haven't ever played with one, or even a console for that matter. The Wii would've done better, if you could have done 720p and surround.

What other exclusive titles are coming to Wii in the near future?

Well, that's a first-party title, there's also that 'Super Paper Mario' coming out in April. Not only that, another one came out last week, 'WarioWare: Smooth Moves'. I know there are more but just can't think of some at the moment.

You see, Wii is geared toward the casual gamers while PS3 is geared toward the HD enthusiasts (that's me!) and hardcore gamers.

I do have a Wii myself, and I've played some good games on it. 'The Legend of Zelda'... always a blast to play with. Really, there's no need to compare Wii to PS3. Sony and Nintendo clearly had different ideas in their heads.

Tons of Mario games didn't give the GC the upper hand, and nor will it now.

That's right.

Mario Party 989078978345 isn't going to get the job done.

The Wii simply must have more robust software support than the GC had or it will be the same story in the end.

If Nintendo would actually stop treating their consoles as distant second fiddles to their handhelds, these would be moot points.

Just imagine if Nintendo decided to have the kind of robust software support for the Wii that the DS enjoys? Imagine if the GC had enjoyed the kind of robust support that the GBA had?

We'd have a completely different console gaming landscape today. Nintendo really continues to be their own worst enemy. It's a trend that started back in the mid 90's when they ceased the partnership with Sony on what would have been the original Playstation and when they decided to stick with cartridges on the N64 while everyone else rightfully moved forward, into the future, with CD-Rom.

They've never recovered from these critical mistakes and they've never been able to knock themselves out of this kind of suspect decision making ever since. More examples: Internet, HD, Dolby Digital.

The Wii represents a great console for kids, and a stop-gap for others wanting something new but not willing to spend for the PS/3 at its current price.

The Wii did the PS/3 a HUGE favour. Sony sold all the PS/3 they could make during the Xmas season, and the Wii was there to make sure the remaining purchases didn't go Xbox 360.

Once THE games start flowing on the PS/3, just watch how the gamers won't be able to resist, no matter how much they grumble about the price.

No serious gamer is going to get knee deep into wario ware. Sorry, but it is just a family entertainment console, vs a video game system. X-Mas 07 is going to be insanely telling. No one out there has a positive comment about any wii game other then zelda it seems! And i bought it on the cube so i wouldnt be forced into a new gimmick to play it. Also, they showed a video of Prince of Persia on the Wii, and the controls look craptacular. I will still get a wii down the line, but nothing it has shown me has given me any interest what so ever.

I also strongly believe we'll be seeing crap 3rd party support again.
