Wii passes XBox 360 in lifetime sales

They say the lifetime sales of the wii have surpassed Microsoft Xbox 360 with 10.57 million worlwide vs 10.51 million. it shows the PS3 in third with sales of 4.32 million.

Microsoft has told owners of its Xbox 360 console that it will pay to replace a 'racing wheel' controller which could overheat and release smoke.

About 230,000 of the wheel-shaped controllers – used for driving games such as Test Drive and DiRT – have been sold worldwide. Microsoft said there had been only 50 reports of the devices smoking when plugged into the mains using an AC/DC adapter.

LOL, that's the same kind of logic we saw in that article a couple of days ago where that HD-DVD guy was talking about how they "try to work with the BD people" and aren't at war with BD and are really competing with DVD.

I don't think it really matters in relation to either of them. Its a totally different market that has given it such success.

Because it's in the typical first year doldrums that any new game console goes through. Cost doesn't help in terms of perception with some people.

The PS3 needs more compelling and preferably exclusive gaming titles.

These will start to show up right in time for the holiday shopping season.

Also: The 360 had a year's headstart on everyone else which makes that Wii figure just that much more amazing.

Neither MS or Sony should be puffing their chests right now.

Because most people don't have 600$ to spend on a gaming console. If it was $250 like the 360, it would be the most popular!

But I don't want that to happen because I don't want 10 year olds being dumbasses on microphones while I'm playing Resistance. If the PSN turns out like XBL then I will be royally pissed off.

Wii is still in fad/gimmick "shortage" mode

360 pricedrop+Halo+gimmick will put Nintendo back down, and when PS3 breaks $300 and the gimmick wears off completely Nintendo will be right back in thebasement where they belong
