It all depends on the sub and the speakers you are using. If the speakers you have don't handle frequencies of say 120hz well, then you should set according to your sub. If the sub doesn't sound good at that frequency, then you should have it lower. If I'm not mistaking, THX recommends all speakers to be crossed over at 80hz. It's just so you get fuller sound.

Actually the setting I was looking at is the low pass filter on the LFE. I had that at 120hz and was thinking you meant I should set it at 80hz.

I'm still learning and those different terms are new and confusing to me.

Alright. Just out of curiousity, did you run Audessey? That should've set the crossover for the sub and speakers. Setting the sub at 120hz is alright, especially if you're using satellites.

Yeah first thing I did was run Audessy. It came out pretty good overall but I changed the sub setting and upped the center channel output a couple db. I may re-run it now that I've played with the settings.
