Hmm, I might have been a little harsh on it earlier saying it didn't have that "wow factor" of some of the other old movies.. Some scenes look pretty good and surprisingly, I'm sitting about 2 or 3 feet closer to the TV this time. Anyway, it has been just as fun the 2nd time through it since I can look for stuff I missed the first time (signs/labels, etc.).
Anyone know if the movie was considered a parody back then or does it just seem that way compared to modern movies? I was so young when watching the TV series I didn't pick up on anything like that. I took it seriously but watching it now, it seems like an obvious parody/spoof. |

I will not be buying this title on July 1st as I haven't seen this feature before. I'll more than likely down the road though Netflix it and decide from there as I am an Adam West fan from Family Guy whether or not to purchase it, so who knows.
I have seen the original tv series and I wasn't a huge fan, but I did find it enjoyable to watch. So I'll rent it and go from there! |

I think I'll rent this one. If any video store in Regina has this and BATMAN BEGINS on Blu-Ray, I think I'll pick both of them up to make an interesting double feature. It would be so bizarre to see back to back the campy, colorful, pop-art Adam West Batman, and the very dark, brooding and realistic Christian Bale Dark Knight. I think I'd be more impressed with the transfer on this one, since it is colorful and from the late 60's.
I definitely remember this from my childhood. When I was a kid, a lot of the movies I watched was stuff my parents recorded off of the TV. And one of them was BATMAN: THE MOVIE. I remember one of the commercials was for MILLENNIUM (which would make it around 1988). I think with this, BATMAN BEGINS, and the BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHTS animated anthology, it would be an interesting cultural study to see how Batman has been interpreted over the years. Oddly enough, I'm more interested in seeing this one over BATMAN BEGINS (but more on that in the official Batman Begins thread). Last edited by reginaroadie; 06-30-2008 at 01:52 AM. |

I'm not getting it on the 1st, I'll probably get it tomorrow. You see, Tuesday is a holiday up here, so most releases (including Batman I believe) have been moved up to Monday.
The thing though is that I'll probably be getting it on DVD, mainly over the price point. If it were to run like most catalog titles at $25 or so, then hell yeah, it'll be blu for me. But it's more like $35, which is a bit much in my opinion. Unlike the Burton or the Nolan Batman's, I don't see a point in this one on blu-ray unless I hear some good word of mouth. |

Sadly, no. The main reason the old 60's Batman series isn't out on DVD is because of copyright limbo. The movie and the series is owned by Fox, while every other movie and tv show of Batman ever produced is owned by Warner Bros, which it and DC comics is owned by Time Warner. I'm amazed that BATMAN: THE MOVIE is even being released in the first place based solely on said copyright limbo.
As for the movie itself, I'm more interested in seeing it due to the fact that it was a lost relic of my childhood being brought back into the light, like BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES. Although I don't expect it to be better now that I'm older like the animated series was. |

His point was that you crapped the thread not that your opinion was wrong or right. Imagine I went into a thread of your favorite movie and just started calling the movie crap without stating the reasons why?
