If titles are planned months in advance, that means this title was probably planned by New Line, meaning it would have had DTS HD MA. I thought changing any specs would be hard to do on such short notice. Apparently that's not the case with this title?

Another sad day for Blu-ray fans courtesy of Warner. I weep for future New Line titles that were going to be DTS-HD MA. I can imagine it now, Seven on Blu-ray with...Dolby Digital sound. I would start getting very nervous Lord Of The Rings fans.

Something needs to be done with Warner Brother, they are getting out of control with their lackluster Blu-Ray releases. When will they learn that this isn't HD-DVD! New Line did such an excellent job with their releases and now Warner is taking over and are making their releases look like crap. I knew when Warner took over that it was going to be bad news for us New Line BD fans. I think Batman Begins will be the last Warner BD I will buy for a good while.

The Matrix Trilogy will be the only and last Warner movies I purchase from now and till they get their shit together. That includes any movies with lossless as well. No Warner Movies! And if their suckitude reaches band of Brothers, So help my God!

I doubt it - based on how they are going to be cutting their prices.

Man, and to think if New Line were putting this out it would have 7.1 DTSHD-MA sound!
![]() Warner thank you for ending the war, but come on start using the full capabilities of Blu-ray! I may have to pass on this one even though it is a great movie, with a great soundtrack that would have sounded awesome from New Line! Last edited by GarettP; 07-12-2008 at 03:20 PM. |

Sometimes, these mistakes make it all the way to production without being caught. It is best to wait for verification from one of our experts before assuming Warner/NL have gone crazy (again). Gary |

I wonder if a massive online petition for Warner would changes things?
I ask because several years back Warner ended up listening to an online petition to release the remastered original Willy Wonka in OAR/widescreen when they originally were just going to release it in pan and scan. |

The worst part of this for Warner is that they are continuing to put forward the idea, whether it's true or not, that they are both the cheapest studio and the one who cares the least about their HD customers. If this is an actual business plan, with the future intent to double-dip lossless versions, then I can only hope they end this policy soon so they prevent more damage to their goodwill.
At the very least they should come out an announce that they are comitted to lossless audio on all releases as of a certain date. I think it's time for their home video division to show some leadership rather than being continually embarrassed compared to the other studios, especially when one looks at their lackluster comittment to the format as a whole. Many people can have long memories about such things, regardless of the occasional spectacular release like Blade Runner. Last edited by cipher; 07-13-2008 at 06:39 AM. |

I remember reading about New Line being folded into Warner, and it saying that New Line would continue to be it's own production and distribution entity, just executive decisions would be in coordination with Warner. I can't remember where I read this, but it led me to hope we would still continue to see New Line titles with 7.1 DTS-HD MA, and not 5.1 Dolby Digital with handicapped video like how Warner operates.
I think that Warner has too much power now, though I was beginning to believe it for some time before, but as far as high definition goes, they should go with BD-optimized video and lossless audio on every title, but you don't need to hear me repeat what everyone else is saying here. New Line titles: 7.1 DTS-HD MA and BD-optimized video all the way!!! Warner titles: BD-optimized video and lossless on all! Last edited by ussrelativity; 07-16-2008 at 12:41 PM. |
