I'm beginning to think that audio is the most important aspect to me. I normally think picture quality first but then I started thinking about a lot of my favorite movies and in almost all of them, I care about the audio more. So yeah, I'm really pleased with lossless audio especially on newer titles. I added the "especially on newer titles" because I just finished watching the The Fog (import) with DTS-HD MA. While I'm happy it has lossless, there just isn't the same depth, fullness, and clarity with a lot of the older soundtracks. Probably better than listening to it in mono (although I don't recall having compared that, with any of the older movies, to see if I prefer the original mono or not).

You can't put a disc in a blue case and call it Blu-ray. Blu-ray = high bitrate video (BD 50) plus lossless audio...or at least it should be before calling something Blu-ray.
IMO, lossless audio is as important to the high def experience as the high quality picture. I hope that Warner realizes soon the mistakes they are making by excluding lossless audio with many of their titles. It's pure criminal. |

I'll be triple-dipping on the upcoming BD of 'U-571' which has DTS-HD MA, to replace my SDDVD & HDDVD copies, which only have a (still impressive) DTS track. The lossless HD track on BD is apparently a lot more robust & leaves the HDDVD in the dust.

Since I got my Onkyo 705 and my speakers to have a true high def audio setup, my movie world has been completely changed. The depth and earth shattering lows that come from dts hd-ma and truehd are incredible. The first track I listened too was Cars and Ratatouille and the background noises of rats running around and the cars whipping by are just insane! The Pirates of the Caribbean series and Cloverfield are my favorite action movies... so good!

![]() I agree that IMAX is the crown jewel of theaters. But a HTIB playing lossless will sound worse than a lossy DD theater. ![]() P.S. Compared Spiderman 3's TrueHD track against its uncompressed LPCM track...LPCM kills it. I wish uncompressed was the standard, but I do like DTS-HD MSTR. ![]() |
