The only DVD I'm aware of with the correct Blue color would be The Tick (that awesome live action show that was on fox for a season in 2001 I think) and possibly the cartoon versions, but I htink those were in cardboard multidisc cases.

catfight?

but seriously... most of my DVDs are in black or clear cases, although more and more are coming out in box sets with slim cases which are clear.
But as long as the cases do not change the size and shape, I think there is no problem. As soon as DVDs start appearing in sizes close to the Blu-ray case, or the same shape, it will start to cause problems. The important thing people should note is that Blu-ray cases ALL have the Blu-ray logo at the top. (all is a general term, I haven't seen any that don't yet).

And it is true, some small number of movies are in red cases, blue cases, white cases, pink cases, even bright green (such as the Grinch). It is nothing new.

I will try to get you some examples tomorrow as I'm off today and have other things planned. Remember though...I'm in Canada. Maybe this isn't happening in the U.S. I can say I've seen them at Wal-Mart Canada and Costco Canada.

Thank you BetaMan.....

There is no need to get all bent out of shape on something as trivial as the color of a case. I just wanted to share what I saw and if anyone had any thoughts on the matter.

Austin Powers Goldmember - BLUE CASE
Rose Red- RED CASE
That Darn Cat - WHITE CASE
Two Brothers- WHITE CASE
I, Robot- CLEAR CASE
a slew of fox movies - SILVER CASES
Legally Blonde 2 - PINK CASE
Stuart Little was another blue case
I can see the kids movies and they are multi colored, anywhere from pink to blaze orange.Disney uses mostly white cases for its cartoon releases. Just the marketing in relation to the movie it pertains to. Garfield is orange, why not have an orange case?

Default On Topic :-)

I was at Costco yesterday. Immediately upon entering the front door, to my left, were cases and cases and more cases stacked and opened for display of DVDs. Many different titles. It caught my eye (from the side) because of all the BLUE color. I actually walked over to look at all the Blu-rays (which they were not). When I got a bit closer I realised that they were DVDs and was amazed at all the titles from different studios and all in BLUE cases.

To me, it appeared very very deliberate. I thought about it a bit yesterday and tried to figure out a marketing angle....but never did.

I know Disney does this with their releases, but its Cardboard box selves.

Perhaps they do, but there were multiple studios and ALL blue PLASTIC.

As I stated, it was so odd and so uniform in its merchandising that I immediately assumed it was intentional. It could be a subliminal message to average Joe-six-pack to begin the "comfort" of adopption of BD....to "ease" the transition, perhaps, on a subconcious level.
