I love some of the things Chad Johnson does, but this one is just ridiculous.... I mean changing your name... officially?!?!?

No, you're right. The NFL has the worst image problem. When a guy like Marvin Harrison is involved in a shooting (as Rome would say, allegedly), then something's up. It's just percentages anyways. The NFL has way more players, so it's a safe bet to say that they're inevitably going to look worse than the NBA.
EDIT: BTW, I can't stand Jim Rome.

I'm just waiting for the day he gets traded and winds up with a different number on his jersey. Then it'll be Mr 85 playing as 83 or whatever number. It would be a riot to get that jersey!

Chad can just change his name again. Maybe he should change it to a symbol (football, or something else...) to eliminate problems down the line.

Chad is hilarious and makes watching Sports Centre entertaining.

He should have gone with "He Hate Me" on his jersey like the guy from the XFL haha.

I remember that. I believe it was a player on the NY hitmen. Anyway, Chad is the NFL's version of Andy Kaufman.

Yeah, that would be Ochenta-Cinco. He's just going with a nickname he had previously or something like that?

As far as getting traded/new number... he could just change it again, most likely.

Still stupid, though.

They just said on Sportscenter that the league requires a player to do a jersey name change months before the season and since there are over 100,000 Johnson jerseys out there already, he would have to buy them all for over $4.5 million in order to have the new jerseys made. So in other words, it ain't happening.

People need to lighten up, I think it's funny.

I don't think it creates a bad image for the NFL at all. It's the players that are breaking the law and getting arrested that creates a bad image.

Chad Johnson has never been arrested. I have heard that he does not even drink alcohol.

Well that's true. TO is another one (I got to meet him once early in his days with the 49er's).

Ocho Cinco is a wingnut, but he can play. I find most of the stuff he does funny, and he just doing it for attention anyway.

since he gets a cut of the Jersey Sales, and more than likely Jersey sales will be off-the-charts......... I think it's genius........ he's lost his freakin' mind, that's for sure, but it's genius nonetheless.

Yeah, that was Rod Smart I think his name was. Anyways, he was on that Panthers team that lost to the Patriots in SB 38 a few years ago. But c'mon, that was the XFL, it was supposed to be like that.
