I have a few Disney films from even the 60's that were released in the theater in WS but the DVDs are FS. When you read amazon reviews, you get that complaint all the time on many Disney films like Follow Me Boys, Those Calloways, The Castaways, et al.

I don't think that the Sword in the Stone is a Platinum release, that's why it won't be a blu-ray. I also wonder if they'll bring the BD versions of the Platinum editions that have been previously released.

IMDB says The Jungle Book is 1967.

Whew, Disney better speed up the process for further Blu releases quicker than this. Otherwise, I'll be a really old man before most/all of their classics are out on Blu.
Sadly the plan is still 2 per year. Though I wish they'd go to 3, so we could get some of the previous releases in Blu. Since the first three have already served their 5 (I believe?) years in the vault.

Eligible for release: Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King. Aladdin will be eligible in 2009.

If its 2 per year, aside from Sleeping Beauty, which is the other one that will come out this year?

The rumor is we'll either get Snow White again in Fall of 2009. Or Fantasia.

YES! Pinocchio! I love Pinocchio

Many childhood memories...in my eyes it's definitely an improvement over Sleeping Beauty

Sword in the stone? I owned the DVD, and if there is no difference with this 45th Anniversary DVD, I won't be getting it (I'll hear the report first)

Agreed, but at least it looks SOOOOO good on standard DVD. Seriously, I was very pleasantly surprised. Hard to imagine how much better it would have been on Blu.

How long before they release Song of the South do you think?
Song of the South has been re-issued numerous times outside of the US. It was still in print up until recently. My father actually has a letter from Disney authorizing him to professionally convert an imported PAL copy to NTSC. He did it some years ago as a gift to my mom, who loves this movie. So my kids have gotten to see it, too.

I'll definitely pick up Pinocchio on Blu, although I don't know how much more they can "remaster" this movie. The hint that there's decent bonus features might be cool, tho.

Disney should consider letting Pixar remake classics like Pinocchio and Snow White with computer animation. It will definitely bring new life into these films and would be great in HD.

Lets be honest, HD treatment with ultra old classics like Pinocchio won't add much.

Look on the bright side. You're one of the older generation who embraces new technology.

I had to basically force my dad to take a DVD player as a Christmas present a few years ago.
