Yup. From the sounds of it, I wouldn't own many games, either....

WiiHD with built in Blu-ray drive?

I know a few parents who got their kids a wii last year because the amount of games that were suitable for children were few and far between on the MS & Sony systems (not counting the PS2).

I see a lot of parents with young kids at Target & Walmart hovering around the Wii section. Lots of options for them, whereas stuff like GTA4, Metal Gear Solid, Gears of War, etc fills the rack for the 360 & PS3.

+1

Not to mention once they buy it, they don't have a kid sitting alone in his room playing hours on end, or online talking with freaks much older them. They have a system capable of family enjoyment and time. I know that was a huge selling point for my aunt and uncle when they got it for their three girls.

I also fall into the group that does not compare the WII with the others. I used to consider myself a "hardcore" gamer, but the fact is i don't have the time to spend hours a night playing. What i do have is time with friends to sit down and have some fun. The graphics do not impact that experience for me, and frankly to many games come out now a days with the focus on the graphics and look rather then gameplay.

The other thing to keep in mind is not everyone frequents the blu-ray forum with their HDTVs and $400 movie players. HD is not the selling point it will be next gen. Sure i would like it, and i am sure its a deal breaker for many on this forum lol. But world wide what is the penetration of HDTV's? Wii knew who they were gunning for, and they did it well.

I just hope to get one soon

And if they do go HD next time around i hope they do so cost effective, and not at the sacrifice of gameplay. For now the WII's graphics are plenty impressive enough for me to consider it THIS GEN, and 720p seems to be too much focus imo for the benefit you actually get.

I agree, I had the wii twice but I wasn't patient enough so I sold them. I regret it, but I rather wait for the next nintendo hd console. I just hope it has the store like the wii does. And I hope the controllers are different. I can't wait because gamecube and wii dissapointed me. I've been a nintendo fan since I was 4 years old, so you can't call me a nintendo hater. Sony and Nintendo are the best.
