John Carpenters The Thing is the best one that I've seen and heard so far. As far as classics go, movies over 20 years old.

Interesting. I never watched a lot of those classics mentioned even on standard dvd. I watched some of those old classics once, but no more. And some of the classics mentioned I still have never seen and probably will never see. I do agree a lot of the classics mentioned are classics though.

After getting Hunt for Red October and Starship Troopers on Blu which aren't nearly as old as the classics mentioned in this thread, I realized the older movies don't interest me as much. I think the stardard dvds capatured enough of the movie. Now the new movies coming out on blu like Transformers, Hulk, Iron Man really take advantage of the blu format. Amazing state of the art sound and color. I'm finding I'm not watching the old movies blus nearly as much as the latest ones.

I still want the Matrix films, Lord of the Rings, Riddick, and Xmen 1 and 2 on blu, but that is about as far back as I'll upgrade from dvd to blu. From this point on, I buy only new movies on blu (except for tv series not on blu yet). The old dvd movies in my collection and the old classics on standard dvd I really don't think buying them in blu is necessary to enjoy them.
